Homemade Doggie Gate! 2 Attachment(s) We had 2 pee pads set up in the "sitting room" since we hardly use it. The problem was that Magnus who usually potty outside would pee/poo on the hardwood floor if my mom forgets to let him out. Got tired of having to clean up so I decided to reduce the potty space. Didn't want to pay $200+ for the gate (size and design) I needed so I opted to make my own. Here's the before/after. Attachment 403741 Attachment 403742 I purposely built it that height not to obstruct the view of the sitting room (per mom's request) and Magnus is too lazy to jump over just to pee/poo on the floor there. lol Material cost: $60-$70 Labor: Couple hours |

Nice job, it looks nice. I also made a removable bi-fold gate to keep the dogs out of the main portion of the garage. Its so rewarding knowing that your hard work and creative idea works so well. |
Brilliant! I love DIY projects. It looks great! I keep toying with building a low gate that I can step over, that ZoE can't climb....but I love to procrastinate. |
The gate looks amazing! Very clever to make your own! Your house looks amazing, too! |
Good job, and likes great. I also love diy projects. |
Awesome!! How did you make those...and are those screens in the middle, is that what they are? And then you added brackets? |
KazzyK810: I love to procrastinate too. Total hours that I worked on only took couple hours. However! Those "couple hours" took couple weeks. LOL SirTeddykins: Thank you for the compliment. That's more of my mom and sisters decore. And I've been wanting to tell you that your s/n is just as cute as your furbutt! Whylie's Mom: Yes! Those are screens in the middle. I bought one of those "pet proof" screen from Home Depot. As for the frame, it's actually lattice cap moulding. One of the biggest reason I chose these materials was to make the gate as light as possible but sturdy too. I used a 1/4" thick mdf as a frame to wrap the screen and used the lattice caps to fasten the screen. To make sure everything is secure, I screwed everything. So far, this setup is working out GREAT! |
I love it. I have a weird space where I may need one like this. If you get a chance sometime, can you get a closer up pic of a couple sections? I'd be interested in seeing it a bit closer, so I can also show the details to my hubs. |
Well, thanks to you, the décor can be preserved through use of the gate! It's the pillars I love. I am weird about architecture and so love anything that's grandiose and pillars are just the thing! Thanks re: s/n :) Teddy's full name is Sir Rupert Teddykins. I didn't realize that having that as my s/n meant that most would assume I was male..lol Live and learn! |
