Things you've been told at pet stores After visiting the pet store this morning and hearing a lot of conversations going on, I thought it would be funny to hear stories of what pet store employees or customers have said to you or any bizarre advice they've given. Not meant to bring shame upon any pet stores, it's all in good fun. |
Take 8 month old Joey to the dog park to socialize him. We went, he played with a large breed puppy who stepped on him and knocked him over and a bunch of other dogs trampled him. He was fine with other dogs until that happened. |
Lets see ; store employee showing a person how to put a harness on incorrectly. Store employee recommending a harness to *stop* pulling on a sled dog breed:D:D After she left the woman and I had a conversation about huskies what harnesses are used for for sledding dogs and she got a nice sturdy martingale collar, which I showed her how to use correctly! That's about it for now that I can recall |

I've been asked if I would breed Couver to their 3 pound female. Haha, he was neutered and my answer was NO. |

Last Saturday, called Petco to check on availability of a new to Gucci feed. He checked, they had it in stock and asked if I wanted him to set a bag aside for me, I said no it's my chance to socialize a bit and "my little yorkie is an irresistible chick magnet!" Silence, I knew I caught him off guard. So I followed up with "how's the crowd today?" That's when he laughed and responded pretty good actually! He was right! It was a VERY good crowd! LOL Confirmed, Gucci is still a chick magnet!;) |
Had comments from a lady about carrying Caleb, not letting him on the floor of the store. She thought he should be put down. He was young and happy to be held...plus it wasn't that clean in places and there were a few big dogs in the store. We had people ask to breed Caleb...he's neutered. We've had loads of people ask to breed from our border collie, as he's a looker, even those who've been told over and over he's neutered. Even if I was pro breeding him, we wouldn't as his temperament isn't ideal. When we tell them that, they don't care, he looks good. |

I hate to say this but the girl at our new Petco well she is nice but to chatty. She had to show me her tortoise which was hanging out in a laundry basket behind the counter because she did not have time to go home before work.... she followed me around the whole store talking with me. I then made my daughter go see the tortoise with her so that I could get my shopping done. Then my daughter was like mom let's go and I could not get her to stop talking again at the register..... oh boy....I wish I had her schedule. hahaha |
I have gotten quite a number of "what breed is she?" Questions at Luma. Seriously? They look at me skeptically when I say she is full Yorkie. they ask me how much she weighs. ((only 8 or 9 lbs! She isn't really that big.....she's just tall!!)) I couldn't bring Rosie ANYWHERE without people seriously freaking out, AWWWW LOOK A TEACUP YORKIE!!!!!11 :eyeroll: asking if they can pet and hold her, asking if she can be bred. It made me seriously paranoid. I wouldn't let her walk on the ground in Persmart because I had people try to pick her up. At the dog park I even once caught a girl holding Rosie in her lap and getting her friend to take a picture...wtf? I stopped letting strangers touch her, period. :/ |
A little boy at petsmart thought I should breed my 2 dog because I could get money for the puppies. I told him they were both fixed. He said 'aw that's too bad, you could make money' I just told him I rather help rescue dogs from the shelter and walked away not wanting to go into a rant. It still bothers me though, I hate to think some people just see their dogs as money machines. |
