The update to IOS 8 was a nightmare for me. They have sent out IOS 8.0.2 that us to fix the bugs. We shall see. |
I haven't updated my iPad yet and I'm not going to for a while. I will a new iPhone 6 plus tomorrow(it shipped yesterday). I'm so nervous something is going to mess up. I always backup to Icloud and upload all my pics to my PC. I hope my transition is smooth. |

My mom's iPad is still on iOS 5 I think. I was planning to update to iOS 7 back when it was still new, but luckily, we had so many photos on the iPad, it wouldn't let me update it! Good thing because my mom is a huge "Animal Voyage" fan and she would have lost all of her progress....lol |
Ipad It would be safer for your mom to upload now to the Cloud and then she would be OK if disaster struck with the IOS8.0.??? update! Hope your IPOD operations worked ok. :-) |
Da1985 That seems the way to go these days, leave well alone:-) If you need to upgrade and you are uncertain perhaps you could go to an Apple Genius for assistance? I guess after that you would have to do the update at home as it takes so long. I think it takes 5.6 MB of memory for the upload, so it depends on how much free memory your device has? |

Pic loss I am sorry you lost pics of your baby before and I can well understand why you do not wish to risk that again. I agree, why keep doing these risky updates if our devices work well?? Is it possible to upload all your pics to a desktop computer and then to disc to always have them? My IPad crashed and it is only by the skills of the Genius that I did not lose everything! Enjoy taking pics of your baby:-) |
I agree. These updates only cost us more time and we are always at a risk of losing our pictures and videos. One of the only things I don't like about Apple. |
I skipped doing IOS7 because Ryan had so many issues but all of my Apple stuff is in IOS8 now with no issues, all my 1008 photos made the trip over safely.. I really need to clean out my pictures but how can you decide what pictures to carry and not to carry of your pups and baby!?!?!?! :p |
Ios8 That is great that you are OK with the 8. That would be hard to know what to keep or not??? I bought extra Cloud storage on my IPad for about $8 per year and that might be a way of keeping EVERYTHING, :-) |

The restore/backup from restore method went alright. I had to redo is five times because iTunes kept on restoring the iPod, but not putting the backup into there. Turns out my backup was actually on August 22, so I didn't have pictures from one of the vacations we went on, so I was pretty disappointed, but luckily we use the same Apple ID for both my iPod and my mom's iPad so all the pictures from my iPod "magically" showed up in her Photo Stream--so all is well!!! We have so many pictures in my mom's iPad that it's about 15 gB I think so iCloud isn't letting me upload it. I think we'd have to pay $20 to get it all stored up, but iCloud says it's $20 **a month***? (btw I'm not really sure if it's $20 a month or $10 or $5, I'm just guessing based on my memory). But pictures and videos are priceless so we'll probably end up backing it up to iCloud. Can you backup multiple device's pictures onto iCloud? |
