New Ca dog law, restaurants From Jan 1, 2015, Ca has passed a law that will allow dogs on restaurant patios. Yeh! Subject to the restaurant's wishes. Also cities may have by laws against it, but it is hoped they will accept the law. Jerry Brown, the Governor has a Corbi dog by the way. What is the law in other states? |
 This is awesome! No smoking please, but doggies are allowed!:D |
Ca law Of course, JB has a CORGI, bad iPad!! |
That's awesome... I wonder how I would go about finding out if I could take my pup into stores and outdoor dinning with me. I just got an awesome deal on a pet stroller. |
I take Jackson pretty much anywhere there is outdoor seating. MD passed a similar law a few yrs back. Some restaurants already allowed it, but I guess it made it more 'official'. I love it! It gives him some extra socialization and fun time, instead of sitting at home waiting for us to get home from dinner! He's such an awesome dinner guest too. Just sits or lays down nicely, most of the time, at the bottom of my feet. |
Laws It is great news for us. I guess the only way I have found is to try it and get stopped at the store/restaurant entrance. Grrr! I was shocked when Walmart wouldn't let me into even the garden center once! Also here hairdressers do not allow pets! I honestly don't know where one can get a list of prohibited places. |
We had that law here in MO for a couple of years. We have only taken them to one restaurant a couple of years ago and to First Watch once. That was before the law was in effect. Hubby does not like to take the pups because he is afraid they will beg or misbehave, but I insisted bc it was Daisy's and my birthday. He couldn't say no. Haha I took a blanket for them to sit on and a little food. They got so much attention. The employees at First Watch were so thrilled to have them there...they ran and got them a bowl of water and fussed over them. I have never seen another dog at First Watch for some reason. |
Not here, Toronto the Bad, we can sometimes hook our dog up to the outside railing in an outdoor patio, but generally speaking no. Public picnic areas are usually allowed. Great to see that at least some States are progressive. |
Here it is up to the restaurant owner if it is okay. Like there are fancier restaurants downtown that I wouldnt do it but Ive did it at more fast food type of places and also there is a little district in our city that is very dog friendly and everyone brings there dog and they even give them a bowl of water. I would never even attempt to sneak a dog inside a restaurant though I think that is just totally unappropriate and everyone knows better than to do that. I think as long as dog owners are respectful of restaurants the more of them that will become dog friendly same with stores and hotels |
We have always taken our girl to outside eating areas and not once have been told we couldn't. I just wish more dog friendly restaurants would open up where we could take them inside. ;) |
there is a bill in the MI legislature to allow it if the restaurant wants to, hope it passes |
Florida is very dog friendly. Sarasota in particular. And even more narrow, Lido Key..... These are the reasons I live and thrive here  |
I hope the bill in Michigan passes too, Donna. I just came back from Maryland last week, after moving my daughter there for her new job, and it was amazing! Dogs were everywhere! I'd never seen so many dogs out and about. Every restaurant we went to had at least one dog out on the patio, and many of the stores had water bowls set outside their doors for passing dogs. I'm looking forward to taking ZoE out there this Autumn. |
Awesome new law. :) Can't wait. |
