Happy to hear the pups are enjoying having all of their outdoor things indoors. Glad you are very well prepared. Our hurricanes and tropical storms all hit at night here too. I agree with you, not being able to see makes it worse. Praying for your safety. |
dog Sandy, I have never been to Hawaii or the other islands. Looked Maui up on the map. Are you in the north, south, east or west. Close to the beach or inland. Just wondered. Maui is paradise and I hope there will be no damage, it is so beautiful. Maybe just some wind and rain. Hope it passes over you. Many prayers coming to cover you tonight! |
Sending prayers for you and your state!! |
It is 6:15 pm now, still about 3 hrs until it is expected to hit here. We have light rain now, and a little wind. The pups are still confused with collars on and no walk, and pool/patio stuff in the house and no party. They are sleeping. Wish I could go to sleep and wake up to normal-ness. BTW I am in Kahana, Maui which is the west side just north of Lahaina, and I am ocean front, but property is about 10' above ocean. The rain and flooding will be the worst part, I think the wind will die down a bit. The second storm right behind it is also a big threat. Fingers crossed. |
Still winning, I mean PRAYING, for you guys! Satellite image looks like it's just hitting the Big Island. |
I just checked and landfall is imminent, hope you are safe and out of harms way... |
It is 1am here in Houston, that is around 8pm Thursday for you.....hoping all is good with you.....no horror stories, no terror, maybe a brisk wind is all you are dealing with, a little downpour.....you have people here sitting up with you!!! |
According to live reports on tv, it hasn't quite made landfall on Big Island, but it's windy and a little rainy there. It will likely be another 2 hours until it hits Maui. Doggies are sleeping soundly; wish I could too. It is breezy here and sprinkling, but I haven't even closed all the windows yet because it will be too hot. |
On the weather channel, they are saying some downed trees and power lines....talking about damage to the Kona coffee fields/crops....hating that! Surf looks inviting, beautiful sets.....memories of my teenage years and my Endless Summer adventure with my crazy cousin! Will continue to watch and wait with you! |
Thinking about you Sandy and pups. Hope everyone continues to stay safe. |
It is after 11:30pm and it still has not hit. I'm going back to sleep and am sure I will be awakened when it is here. So far it has been quiet and normal. |
I will keep checking on you and praying you and your girls are safe. I hope you can get a little rest. You have so many people here who care so much about you. |
Sandy, hoping you stay safe and don't get much damage! You're in my thoughts & prayers. Please update us when you can. |
Sandy, just seeing this though I've been thinking of you since I heard of the dual hurricanes headed your way. Please, please - you and those babies stay safe and secure and get through this. I'll be worried and praying for you guys. Check in as often as you can, please. |
:thumbup: Oh Good...Looks like Hurricane Iselle was downgraded to a tropical storm according to the news on tv here in Tampa. Stay Safe!!!! |
Looks like this is going to be a "breezy" ordeal with a ton of rain for you. Praying you are not adversely affected by a lot of rain, rising water, etc....I saw lots of trees down and power lines....4000 people without power. Be safe.....staying here with you! |
dog Sandy I am checking a lot to get updates on you and the pups. Praying hard for this storm to miss the islands . Keep calm if you can. I think the big island will be hit harder than Maui. You are beachfront and I bet it is beautiful. It is God's island , a taste of heaven, and I pray that the beauty will not be touched by this terrible evil storm. You have many friends surrounding you with the power of prayer. |
Good Morning, all is well at my place so far. It is windy with occasional gusts up to 60 mph that only last a short time. The rain is off and on, and I think the worst of it has not hit. The storm became disorganized as it hit Big Island in trying to get over and around the tall 14,000 foot peaks. I got lots of sleep, and am glad it wasn't crazy outside when it was dark and I couldn't see. There are some trees down and power outages in different areas but not at my place. Oh, and my water is turned off.... Not because of the storm, I had to turn off the main because a pipe sprung a leak behind my washer last night. Glad I found it, and need to find a plumber now (as if I didn't t have enough to worry about, huh). |
So glad to hear from you and that you all seem to be safe! Good grief, if it isn't one thing, it's two! No time like a double-hurricane to have a plumbing leak! You poor thing. How are the babies handling all the rain and wind? I hope they aren't scared but just hunkering down and sleeping like Tibbe mostly does when it rains and storms. Once in a while he'll bark at or get aroused by thunder but mostly he sleeps in. Check in with us as frequently as you can and try to stay safe and sound. You all 4 are in our thoughts and prayers, Sandy. |

My cousin is in Honolulu, was so worried for her, but as you can imagine, we're all so relieved. Her Mom, my aunt lives here in CA. |

Prayers for calm weather and calmer seas! Glad you're all okay... |
The Governor won't give all clear until late this afternoon, as there still is some threat. But I sure don't see it where I am, it's dry and no wind at the moment. Pups are even going potty outside, haha, it's that dry. Electricity has been off briefly a few times, and I have friends on the other side of the island that have had no power since last night. I slept through my bedroom screen blowing off at some time last night. I'm going to walk around the neighborhood and see what else might have happened. |
Always glad to hear that all is well. Thank goodness!!! |

Other parts of Hawaii received 14 inches of rain, trees down, power out, so I was very lucky. Maybe my wonderful YT Prayer Warriors helped:D |

14" of rain!! Trees are our biggest concern whenever we face a hurricane or tropical storm. After Hurricane Izzy, our neighborhood looked like a war zone. |
Hopefully Julio will keep tracking north of you and leave the islands alone. |
Yea! Glad you and pups got through it OK! (I still win) |
