Dallas Area Peeps I am going to be in the Dallas area this weekend to help my daughter move. I made her a housewarming gift. It's an old farm door repurposed into a full length mirror. But, I don't have the mirror yet. I don't want to travel with it for fear I'll break it and have 7 years of bad luck.:p:eek: So, I am wondering if there are any glass stores in the Dallas area where I can order what I need. They'll need to be open on Saturday. You can reply here or PM me. Thanks so much!! |
Oh my gosh, what an awesome gift!! She will love it. And after that, you will totally have time to work on MY mirror :D! |
It was such a crappy door that literally came out of a dairy barn. I get kinda grossed out by the thought of rotted wood due to manure, and didn't have much hope for this door, but I sanded it down and painted it using milk paint (my new love!) distressed it a bit, and I love how it turned out. It still had the old hardware with glass handles on it. I know she's going to be excited.... |
2 Attachment(s) You have to use your imagination for the mirror.... :) |

such an awesome idea!! she is going to love it. hope you find the mirror close by. |
Oh wow I love that!!! We inherited DH uncles farm and the old farm house has doors like that on every room. The house itself would cost a small fortune to restore so we will probably tear it down in the future ,but will reclaim a lot of the fixtures and wood mantles etc. to re-purpose.. Shelly your daughter is going to flip out over that treasure. |

i love it!!!!! |
doorknob! That doorknob makes me homesick for the house where I grew up. My mom and dad bought it in 1941 (I was born MUCH later!) and lived there for 35 years. It was a simple cottage style house with a front porch, but the walls were plaster, the trim was nice and heavy, the bath was ceramic tile, and the floors were hardwood. Whenever I see the glass doorknobs that I took for granted, I am struck by my own lack of appreciation for their beauty. The mirror will be gorgeous and even more precious because you made it! |
She will love it. |
Shelly, I will see if Michele knows a place and direct her to this thread. :) |
There are all kinds of places, but none of them are going to be open on Saturday.... Perhaps you can send me the measurements and I could go get it on Friday and you could pick it up from my studio on Saturday??? |
Michele, I PM you. As it turns out her new roommate's dad either works at or has a glass company and is going to cut it and deliver it. It's such a small world! Thanks for he comments and suggestions. I appreciate them. |
