what a nightmare
 
oh geez.... today i went online and foudn out that our book list has been "expanded".... now, there is more books that add up to $250 (used prices :eek: )
I have allready bought $200 in books so far, and now there is more :( this sucks.... i am a student living ON MY OWN. (and soon not to have a job) I realize the books are necessary but seriously... that is A LOT of money to anyone im sure, especially to someone who doesnt have much in the first place :thumbdown I wish they had a different system for geting reading material :(

I understand! Last semester I bought all my books brand new because I didn't want to bother finding used ones, and this year I'm watching the used books that come in like a hawk! I'm there between every class! The people in my courses who did buy all their books new this semester spent $756. For ONE semester! I hatehatehate that they revise every book every couple of years and you HAVE to have the new edition even though there's like one word changed, or 2 questions changed. UGH! :thumbdown

Are you going to school for teaching? I noticed you are a preschool assistant. I'm a teacher, so I was curious. :)

yeah........ i just graduated with my BA so now i am in the teaching credential program :D

i know..... they always want the "newest editions possible" and whatnot :( oh well, i have a lot of connections in the education field so i might be able to score some books from teac :rolleyes: hers that i know,... heres to hoping...

It also makes it impossible to sell an old text! I've got about 3 years worth of text books and almost 4 years left to go! When I'm done I'm gonna have a giant book burning ceremony lol!

Actually, I didn't burn my books, and I'm kinda glad I didn't. Two years after I graduated with my BA, I went for my master's degree and they came in handy. You never know when you might need them. Just some friendly advice. :p

Well at least I have SOME books I could burn no problem, I changed my mind after my first year of university and did a 180 with my degree plans :) I'm still hauling those books around with me everywhere I move!

Did you ever try to sell them on eBay? I bought some books on eBay and half.com before. Two I think. They were both like 40 bucks each (if not more) and I got them for like 5 bucks!!! They were the correct edition and everything!

No, I've never sold anything on ebay so I don't know how lol. I also have some younger cousins starting university before I'll ever be done so I'll wait around for them and see if they could put them to use!

That's a good idea. You both really should look online for your textbooks. They are SOOOOOOOOO much cheaper. I am an online buying Internet Wh*re. :D

lol well I DO search! but I just never buy! Actually my best friend did order some t-shirts for me and I just paid him for them. Also, pretty much everything I find is american, and I'm in canada so shipping charges and currency and stuff makes it pretty expensive. My two t-shirts were about $30 each after all the charges, and that's a lot for a girl who shops at discount stores! I'm hooked on ebay canada though, I'm just scared i'll get addicted as soon as i give in!

those prices are the online used price........ i NEVER buy from bookstore, their pricing is ridiculous (example...... one book the college store is selling USED for $25..... amazon.com has it NEW for $20 (with free shipping on orders over 25 dollars.....) i have an amazon account so i sell all the ones that i can get a return on and the others that i no longer needed well.... you know, the books that were 98 cents were not even worth selling because shipping alone would have cost 4...

eBay IS addicting! LOL And, I didn't realize that you were in Canada until a little while ago. I had NO idea where Saskatchewan was. I had to "search" myself! LOL Well, if you are a thrift shopper than eBay is the perfect place for you! I'm addicted, I'm telling you about it...so you might be addicted too.
