Just venting about Etsy and custom outfits... 1 Attachment(s) I know embroidery machines are not cheap because I was drooling on the Husqvarna Diamond last night that I want sooooooo BAD!!! But the prices I am getting to have something made for me just seem so HIGH.... which maybe they should be I have no clue of what material and time is in what I need  I just think $30 for me to mail you a piece of white cotton fabric and a piece of black and you to do this seems rather high.... not actually make the hat just do the stitching and I make the hat... so please tell me if I am wrong!!!! |
I think that is kind of high. |
Glad to see I'm not the only person that thinks that lol Heck I know the machine I want is $10,000 but geezzzz I should not have to make your payments on it for you haha |
You're providing the material and they're still charging $30? Yeah, I'd say that's high... |

I just paid $18 to have a date embroidered into an oval on a piece of one of my husband's shirts. Our daughter will have it sewn into her wedding gown as her "something blue" from her dad and will use the lace cuff from my wedding gown around the stems of her bouquet as her something old. I guess the point is that custom isn't cheap! |
I think with something custom and I hadn't ordered from them before, $10 would concern me more than $30 Certainly you should get good work for that amount. You have to order their work to judge it and my guess is that it will be very nice. Hope so if you go with it.:) |
I have till Sept to figure it out so hopefully I will find a cheaper way ;) |
re: just venting I completley agree that is a high price, Mom mom does embroidery and with the machines and programs they have now the machine does most the work :) Wendy, JAX :yorkiej: and Tiva :cat: |

I understand how you feel... but I will give another "opinion" I have a hus embroidery machine. Mine is old... maybe 10 years? I remember when I first got "hooked" on the high end machines someone told me I would spend more money on my "sewing room" than one of my kids college education. They were close. So... when I embroidery a dress or a quilt I can spend several HOURS on one block or dress. If I have to research a design, find or do the computer graphics of the design, work with the fonts .. then transfer to a disk to use with my machine (yes.. my machine is old enough to use disKs) hoop the fabric (using interfacing etc) stitch the design out can be 1 or more hours (my machine is temperamental enough that I have to watch closely)... then finish the project. I have sold doggie quilts for around $100.00 (and made many as gifts for ge etc) I spend hours on the embroidery... more hours on fabric selection and a few mins on sewing the quilt together!! to be honest they are a labor of love because at $100.00 it is pennies per hours. So... yes custom emborder is costly. If it is done right it is worth it. You get what you pay for I guess. |
Look for a local custom embroidery shop and compare prices. We have a few in our small town, so I would think they are common. You can avoid shipping charges. |
