I am going into the credential program which is twice as hard (and i have to quit my job to do it  ) and after the credential program i will be a teacher... I have pretty much come to terms that i will NEVER be done, with my masters (which i will work on after i am a teacher) and all the staff development classes that a teacher is required to take.... i am a full time student it seems ;) |
Congrats on your degree--- And if you are going to be a teacher think of your summers OFF! I was going to school for elementary ed- couldn't get through college algebra (took it 3 times with 4 different tutors) Well I switched to social work- and conned the stats teacher into letting me without the algebra and I past 4 stats classes with A's! Who needs COLLEGE algebra to teach kindergarten? Well I wish I would have kept at it- summer off would be awesome! |

As for summers off...... I've always worked summer school, i dont like THAT MUCH idle time... and even if you work summer school you get like 3 or 4 weeks off still  (that is plenty of time for me).... they have that bumper sticker : three reasons to become a teacher, June , July, and August :p |
One of the neat things about being a teacher is that you DO get the 3 summer months off and you can do with them whatever you want. So... if you want to work and make extra money - you can. Many schools have summer school or you can work at something completely different in the summer. Or you can travel or just stay at home and rest. My hubby has developed a chronic illness and had to retire and so we are trying to travel in the summer, and do some of the things he may not be able to do later. I am lucky that I teach and can be gone for 4-6 weeks in the summer. Good luck with all the rest of your studies!!! :) |
