Mom of Mauled Boy Says People More Concerned About the Dog

Unbelievable! And who was the person who decided this dog be not euthanized but defanged and kept in dog prison for life? Is this for real?!

Mindboggling.

People can have so little heart for another human - it's shocking. Poor little kid - he's been through and still is going through hell and so is his family.

That was the outcome....defanged and locked up for life?

They think that is a good life for the dog ? . . . I think it would be more humane if they put the dog to sleep

I think the thing that's disturbing me the most about this case is the lack of decent reporting, especially from "reliable" sources like ABC and Fox.
It's the babysitters dog, no it's the neighbors
The dog had killed the babysitters dog, no it was a random dog
The dog was chewing the bone, no it was laying nearby
He's being defanged, no he isn't


I feel bad for the dog and his actions are understandable to an extent, but I don't see the point in saving this one dog when there are hundreds of innocent dogs put to sleep every day.

If the owner wanted to keep the dog and was willing to do whatever they had to do, that would be ok with me.

I also agree it would be more humane to put him to sleep.

I doubt anybody is happy that poor dog is being made to live like a lab animal caged away 24/7 but surely, surely the people that have him are not keeping him locked away and closeted like a bad person in solitary confinement. Hopefully he's got a decent dog's life of sorts or he should be dead. I only hope the de-fanging was done under anesthesia and involved taking out his 4 largest teeth so he couldn't maim and kill as efficiently as he could have before as he's going to live around people and is known to be vicious. I doubt that judge would save his life only to allow him to live as a hermit - but if that's the case - it's no wonder people are up in arms over the dog!

No dog should be made to suffer punishment as a human who knows better might - the dog can't reason and know what he did was wrong and for all we know, some human taught him that kind of reaction was expected or wanted from him - we rarely get the full story. And even if he just snapped one day after a long time of stress and went rogue or even if he's been made mean as a snake, I think it would be kinder for the dog to euthanize - kill him humanely - than to allow him to live like a hermit never to feel the outdoors or light of day or gets walks, cuddles, toys or get to enjoy being a dog. I'd rather die than live like that and I have no doubt a dog would hate living a caged life. They become fearful of everything and find no joy in their day when all they can do is lie indoors in a kennel, maybe go out into a caged run and have no ability to interact with humans or live like a normal dog for their whole life.

I don't think that's wrong for people to put up a huge fuss when a wrong is being done to anyone or anything, including poor animals, but there should be room enough in our hearts to care about both the maimed little child who's life is forever changed for the worse, who's been through so much horror and pain, having gone through a vicious dog attack and been helpless to stop it. And this child has to much pain and fearful medical procedures still to go through, a boy whose psychological health may forever be damaged with insecurities and fears and who has to live with awful facial injuries and who knows what else, from what that dog did to him for the rest of his days and whose mother had to quit her job to stay home to care for him.

It's such an awful story on all sides and in all likelihood, in some ways it's probably due to people owning, keeping and not being able to control their big, powerful dogs and our governments not being able to keep its citizenry safe from those people's irresponsible actions with their animals. And we, the people, plus their dogs, are the ones paying the price.

So the boy came into the dogs yard? I hadn't heard about this story until just now. I worry about kids coming into our front yard while I have my back turned and Couv nipping. What type of rights do dog owners have on their own property?
