| We built our house. We found a house plan then took it to a lady who made changes and recreated the plans. The one thing I required in our plan was the safe room. They take concrete blocks and rebar. They then fill those with concrete. The door is a steel door with three deadbolts on it. They say underground is safer but a safe room has to be better than nothing. I agree with you. I think in our areas they should require them too. It's a couple thousands dollars more but probably well worth it.
The sky is rumbling right now as we speak. It will be a long night for us. They are expecting winds to 80 mph, 2-3" hail, and EF2 and larger tornadoes. I pray that God puts his protection around all of us in the area. :( |
