Purina Advertising Overload Just curious.....has anyone noticed Purina's advertising has kicked up a couple of notches? Last night watching TV I turned the channel to 3 different channels and Purina was advertising their Pro Plan on each channel. Then this morning, I turned on the TV and I have seen the same advertisement twice in 30 minutes. One of my friend's sons works at Purina and gets all the food he wants but prefers to feed his dog another food. Interesting...... |
Yes, and how 'bout how they've hopped on the 'higher protein' bandwagon? :p |
They sure have some sketchy ingredients listed on some of their foods - corn gluten meal, poultry by product meal and corn. Wonder where the higher protein aspect comes into play? |
Not here. The flavor of the day on MI TV is Blue Buffalo. |
I don't have a tv (we do amazon instant video and whatnot) but I work in the feed industry and purina has puked their red checkered name on just about anything they can. The options are dwindling and the brand name has brainwashed the majority of consumers despite lack luster quality. We have tried to hold strong but even one of our staple companies (land o'lakes) was purchased by purina and I am afraid we are losing the battle, sigh. |
So what some people want to feed purina or need to feed purina |
I have just never seen such an all out advertisement blitz by them before. It seems like every other commercial is a Purina commercial here. Nothing against the people that want to feed it or need to this, it's their decision. I'm sure there are a lot more foods as bad or just as bad as Pruina out there. |
Blue buffalo has alot of comercials too |
Blue Buffalo has always had a lot of commercials for as long as I can remember. Purina just started here within the last 2 weeks for Pro Plan and they show about 6 a night, some times showing one commercial and then the same commercial right after the first one. Something is going on in the midwest area, not sure what. Maybe their sales are lacking in this part of the country. |

I don't know. I see Blue Buffalo commercials all the time and I personally don't find them any better than Purina. I don't know. Some of their foods are nasty (Beneful) so that can be frustrating, but Jackson has actually done very well on Beyond (lamb). We've been feeding that while waiting for Farmina to become available and have surprisingly had great luck. I have to say regardless of the food, some of Purina's commercials have been my favorite (as far as heartwarming, etc) as well as Milkbone. |

Maybe this is a sign of my age, but Purina chuck wagon commercials were huge during my childhood. Loved them, definitely appealed to kids. I have wondered lately about tv advertising, what creates the big shifts in which products we see the most. Coke and Pepsi commercials were huge in the 80s and 90s, and then seemed to take a break after 2000, except for big events like the Super Bowl. Now they seem to be making a comeback. Alka-Seltzer was a heavy advertiser, but I haven't seen a TV ad from them in ages. Men's razor blades and shaving cream aren't really big anymore. Cars and pharmaceuticals are about the only consistent products. |

It's mostly blue buffalo commercials here but I can't stand Purina and how they handled the waggin train chicken jerky so I try to block anything about them out. There so shady. I would never trust them. |
