I didn't actually read the article but with the additional info, it doesn't sound quite as bad as the headline of "communal dog" indicated - as long as the dog lives full-time with one person or couple but just spends some time with other tenants. That sounds some better and probably a lifestyle a calm, settled, well-adjusted dog could get into on some limited basis. So he's not truly a communal dog where he's required to spend equal time with every tenant and that's what I think would be so hard on a dog's well being, confidence and security.
Still, I wouldn't subject a dog I loved to this lifestyle and risk. I just don't trust others that much with my baby, to have him out to the part for walks and wherever they chose to take him. I can see this could cause a lot of problems between the tenants if some think others are not treating him that well or are neglecting him or subjecting him to danger, etc. |
