He could just take her a small, wrapped gift of a charm for her charm bracelet or a very simple necklace, earrings or something he knows she would like to have, like barrettes for her hair or whatever she seems keen on in the way of accessories. Any girl would love a thoughtful little gift to mark the occasion if she's not a corsage person.

You all are giving me great ideas! I like the one flower for pictures and then I could find a necklace and bracelet. Then she's getting a gift she can keep and a flower too! Thank you!!

Is your son paying for the limo and/or tickets?
Is he serious about this girl?

If he's paying and it isn't serious I don't think a gift is necessary. I wouldn't expect anything.

It's the prom! It's a very special occasion for a young girl, especially later when she thinks back and remembers her handsome young man who came for her with a gift and a flower. Her parents and everyone she or the parents tell will be very impressed with son's impeccable etiquette.

My girl gene is broken and my life is/was extremely abnormal.
My wedding has not been planned since I was 5 and the idea of spending more than $10 on flowers that will die in a week makes me :mad:

I never viewed prom as a big deal, yeah it was fun to dress up and do something different but that's about it. My friends were the same way.
I barely remember either prom and it's not something I talked about or thought about much.

My male cousin is 2 years older than me, he went to both proms with girls he was very casual with. I can't remember if he (his mom) bought them corsages, I don't think he did, and I know he didn't get them any sort of gift. He did pay for the limo and tickets though.

I'd guess her son is already spending over $500 on prom ($200-300 for the tickets, at least $200 for the limo, $150 for the tux).
In a way it's cheaper for the girl, at least she has the option to do things cheaper if she wants.

Yes my son is paying for everything. I thought the girls parents had it bad. Haha. But we have prom tickets, after prom tickets (our school does this to keep kids out of trouble so well worth it), tux, transportation, dinner before prom, pictures, etc. wow wow wow.

I went with the bracelet and a single white rose with ribbon and bling. The bracelet is very nice so I do not feel bad about not getting a corsage. The single rose cost me $12!!!!! It's unreal the expense. Like I told my son, it is what it is. This is what I decided and I hope she likes it!

My girl gene must be broken too. I don't remember caring for a corsage at the winter formal. I got one from my date but I seriously hated having to wear it. It was uncomfortable, and none of my friends had one. I was so embarrassed to be the only one! Thinking back, (11 years ago) I should have just appreciated that my date went through the trouble of getting me anything. It's the thought that counts right?

PS The boy from my winter formal ended up being my first boyfriend. He did not go to the prom with me. I went with a girlfriend as she and I had planned to go together for over a year. We had the absolute best time! I didn't feel any of those dreaded prom night pressures. I know I was an awful girlfriend to that poor guy. I only dated him because my squad thought there was something wrong with me because I wasn't boy crazy like the rest of them. :(

The only time it'll really matter is when you take pre prom group pictures. I think most of the girls ended up leaving the wrist corsages on the table.

I agree with SGL....if she doesnt want one, her choice! I would let her own mother fret over her daughter not having a corsage! I can agree with you too....WAY over priced! But, IMO, there is absolutely nothing "ugly, itchy, or awkward" about a beautiful dainty corsage of little sweetheart roses or even a breath taking orchid! I dont know about wearing something like that on your wrist.....those were not around when I had prom....I can see having something as large as a corsage wrapped around my wrist, could be itchy and awkward, and I do not think it is something I would want to do! But if I were you, I would not worry about it!

The pin on ones look better than the wrist ones, but they don't work with a lot of todays dresses.
My dress had beading at the top and a lot of girls wore printed dresses with low necklines, like this

sounds like what you decided will work great and look pretty, now after all this you have to promise to post a bunch of pictures. I rarely miss not having kids but seeing them at prom time is one of the times I do miss it, so LOL I really love to look at friends kids prom pics, so please don't forget to post them

I never got to go to my prom and my one wish was to have that experience with my daughter but nope she refused to go. Didn't get an invite but she could have gone with the other ones who were dateless. There is still my son who is 13 but it just not the same. :(
