avocados.... I love these things with a major passion. A guy I work with puts the avocado right on his toast...so I tried it.....I have always been a guacamole fan but avocado is so much better without the added guacamole fixings. :) YUUUUUMMMMY :D so I eat it like that now all them time. Everyone looks at me like I am such a weirdo... Anyone else do this?? I don't even mind if it is not fully ripe. It has such a wonderful nutty sorta taste. |
I have been seeing this on TV, Kelly Rippa said that after a health segment where they told her avocados were the perfect breakfast food she has been having it on a toasted English muffin every morning, sounds delish, I might have to try it. But Avocados sort of drive me crazy, most of the time they are not ripe when you buy them so you have to plan ahead, then when it ripens and you cut it open it's hard to keep them longer than a day. While I could eat a whole one, they are also fattening so I try to only eat a quarter but since I am the only one in my house that eats them, it's hard to keep them fresh for three more days. I guess I have a love hate relationship with them:D |
oh I didnt know they were fattening..oh well. I actually can container mine overnight but I also don;t mind if it;s a little brown. I know its only from oxidation so it doesn't totally gross me out. and you are right my husband has had them on the counter all week ripening for me. even the one I had this morning it was half rip half not...hehe. he dislikes them so I am the only one eating it..hmmm I guess it's better than having a bacon egg and cheese sandwich right?? lol |
I love them on hamburgers |
yum now I want a burger....with avocado hehe. |
I use them in place of mayo in chicken salad and tuna salad. |
ohhhh now that is a fabulous fabulous idea!!! thanks. maybe I could get my husband to possibly like them in a salad made like that. |

I eat guacamole on just about everything. My dd makes a great sandwich spread and I like that much better than mayo. On hamburgers, in salad, on mexi food, in relishes, dip, and I want to try the baked ones as seen on Pinterest. Yum! I like to buy them really green. I don't know, I'm kinda a germaphobe. I figure people are not picking up the real green ones (or they were just put out) and feeling and squishing on them. LOL After two nights on the counter they are perfect! |
I am very allergic to Avocados and that kills me because I have had them and I liked them. Enjoy your healthy choice ladies. |
I've eaten it like that before, it's good. I also like it on toast with tomato and cheese (and sometimes bacon). Mmmmmmm I'm dying for a Jersey tomato. I hate hard boiled egg yolks and egg salad, but this was actually really good Avocado Egg Salad | Skinnytaste |
I mostly use the large bright green Florida avocados, less fat and a lighter taste. We had some last year from a friends tree that weighed over 2 1/2 pounds! If you have some getting brown and need to use it up, put it in your blender fruit shakes! The creamy texture is amazing! |

I eat them everyday. Yes they have some fat, but they are good fat. I have read before they are good to eat to help get rid of belly fat too. |
I haven't tried them but I heard avocado fries are very good. There sliced, breaded with some seasoning and oven fried. |
I LOVE avocados!!! Eat them all the time. sometimes just right out of the shell! I chop them up fresh and put them on salad very often. sometimes I sprinkle lemon-pepper on them and eat them like that. I very rarely mix them with other stuff, but if they get overripe and too brown looking, I'll mix them in with homemade fresh salsa to eat with tortilla chips or pita chips. The smooth, creamy, nutty flavor is amazing!! |

God I love avocado. If I was a millionaire I'd eat nothing but raw oysters, broiled scallops, pistachios, and avocados haha. But they gotta be either Californian or Mexican avocados. I HATE the Chilean ones that have this disgusting twinge of sweetness that ruins them. Next year is going to suck with the historic drought killing off all the Califonia avocado trees. I love eating avocado with just a little salt or on top of a burger. And guacamole with onions, a little serrano, lime juice, cilantro, salt, and a very little bit of tomato is absolutely spectacular when you dice everything so finely that you can't even see the chunks anymore. The only thing I never get is people who put avocado in omelettes. The flavor of avocado is way too delicate to really shine through then, so all you have really done is doubled the price of your omelette, and it still tastes the same. On thing I never understood: where does the name avocado come from? It sounds Spanish, but in spanish the word for it is aguacate. |
OK, apparently avocado was an English language mistake in trying to pronounce aguacate. |
