Kindle Fire I just bought one, second generation I think. So now the big question is what books should I buy, are there places to get free ones, is there anyone on here that would like to trade, that is if you can trade (I heard from someone that you can loan someone a book for 2 weeks then I guess it disappears) If you don't mind please post some of your favorite books here weather you read them on paper or on an electronic gadget. I really don't have any books in mind to get right now. I tend to like romance, light crime (not really gory), family legacy dramas. I guess you could say I am sort of a light weight content reader, no war and peace for me:D |
Hi I also have kindle fire I can download books from my library for 21 days just go to their web site (not sure about where you are at). Amazon you can download free books also go to apps on kindle there are apps for free books you canldownload. I like reading Michael Connelly, John Grisham, Jonathan Kellerman I could go on but that is a few. |
Hi. My oldest son got me the second generation kindle fire for Christmas. I like it. I have an older kindle keyboard that you can only read on. The kidle fire, you can watch movies, etc. When I workout on the treadmill or bike, I watch HBO GO. Anyway, back to books. Here are some of the books I have on my kindle fire: Bella Fortuna, Second Chance Summer, Belva Plain Books: Secrecy, Promises, Crossroads, Randon Winds, The Carousel Penny Vincenzi Books: Forbidden Places, Wicked Pleasures. Harlan Coben books are good too. Barbara Delinsky books good too. Let me know if you want to borrow anything. I don't know how to do that, but I'm sure we can figure it out. Enjoy your new kindle. I use the Kindle application on my IPad, love it. What type of books to you like to read? Yes you can loan books and yes it is for two weeks but also the publisher has to allow the books to be loaned. I have a pretty big library, but honestly I read a lot of Chick Lit (easy reading stuff) and some best sellers. Let me know what you like and I will loan you some books. |
I just saw your list of what you like to read (missed it in the first post). I love series books also let me go through my list later today and will send you a list of some I think you might like. |
LOL I don't know why I said Kindle fire, maybe I heard that on TV, I have the kindle paperwhite, when I was on the phone the amazon guy he said I have the second generation. I don't think the one I have runs movies. I got it because I liked the idea of the bright white background. One of the reasons I don't read much anymore is I like to do it in bed just before going to sleep. My husband is crabby and goes to bed early so I am hoping I can lay on my side and read in the dark. He is such a light sleeper he hears the pages turning so I was thinking this would eliminate that. Cheryl, sounds like we have similar tastes. Valerie I know I have read several things by Barbara Delinski, so we must like several of the same authors. I am game to read any chick flick type books you gals have liked and would want to share. I don't think I have read a novel in almost two years, so there is a good chance if it has been published in the last two years I have not read it. I used to read with meals and so forth but between yorkie talk and facebook I now eat in front of the computer:( I checked with my library and they do loan e books, I just have to find out what my card's pin number is, I heard they don't have to many but it's sure worth checking it out, thanks for that tip. What's a cloud in computer terminology??:D:D yes I know I am way behind in technology:eek: |
're: cloud, I am technology challenged, lol, but my son explained it. It's like whatever is in the cloud is yours waiting. Then you can add it to your device. The cloud is like a waiting area before you add it to kindle. |
amazon has free books daily you can load right to your kindle. |
I rarely read fiction so I can't help you with books but my daughter has a kindle paperwhite and just loves it. She uses the library some and also just downloads books for her book club quite often. |
I use Ereader News Today and Book Bub for free books, if you have a Facebook account just like their page and they'll send you free choices several times a days you can also get free and discount books straight from Amazon. I love my paper white. |
does the paperwhite let you watch movies, glad I started this tread, lots of good idea on where to find cheap or free books |
No, you can't watch movies on the paperwhite. |
Thanks for the tip |
You can register many devices to your account--your kindle, laptop, tablet, smartphone, etc. My sister, daughters, niece and a friend are able to use my account, and there is only a problem if a sixth device tries to download a book. Best money I spend! |
Amazon has a list of 100 free books, that changes every hour. Some of them are cheesy (religion and self improvement) and others are cookbooks, but I've downloaded several (over 500) that I probably wouldn't have read if they hadn't been free. A lot of romance, some mystery, even some young adult. I've had a few I just couldn't get into, but for the most part, I've enjoyed them. I usually spend my Sunday evening downloading new free books. I've noticed some of them back on the list after a few weeks or a few months, but it's truly an ever changing list. |
