My son called from Ramadi, Iraq to let me know that he is safe. There have been 70 people killed and another 65 were injuried in the Ramadi area. He told his father and I (we were on a 3-way call) that this is the first time he's seen dead bodies and couldn't believe all the injuries and the severity. When he wasn't able to donate blood because he is AB+, he went around to all the units to have others with 0 and A+ donate. While only 7 were soldier casualties, 1 is too many for this Marine mom. Please pray for all of our men and women serving abroad today. |
Oh, WOW, Lisa! Prayers are coming your way for you and your son. |
Done- prayer said- my brother served in Desert Storm. I can't imagine the worry when it is your own son. God Bless them and keep them safe and may you be at peace too. |
I am so glad that you son is ok and was able to contact you to let you know. I pray for the soldiers everyday and I will continue until they are all home safely. |
im so glad your son is ok.. prayers going out to him and you and your family. i just want to thank him for protecting us... he is a great guy.... :thumbs up :thumbs up :thumbs up |
Lisa- I can only imagine how difficult it must be to have your son over there. I am so thankful everyday that there are men and women willing to fight for my freedom. My prayers go out to your son. When is he scheduled to come home? |
Oh I can't even begin to imagine how it would be to have a child over there. I'm sure it was great to have him on the other end if only for a little while, to know exactly where and how he is,, that would be so hard. Prayers to you and your family and to him. |
Brian has been in the Marine Corp since 9/15/2002, the day after he turned 18. After bootcamp, MCT training and school in 29 Palms, CA, he went to Okinawa and had been there ever since. He has extended twice in Oki. Last May he was handpicked to be a part of the Border Transition Team, an honor for 100 Marines. There are 10-ten man teams. He has been "in country" for 7 months and has another 5 to go before they return back to their respective bases. Each member of the team is getting a 15 day leave while over there. Brian is scheduled to take his leave at the end of February when he'll come home to take a much anticipated family vacation. Prior to going to Iraq, we went 18 months without seeing him. I know its only been 7 months but its different when you know they are in danger every moment of every day. Thanks for all the prayers. I pray for all of our military men and women and for their safety as well as for their families back at home. |
I'm so glad you got to talk to him. That helps a lot. A friend's husband came home for good just before Christmas. She said it was like a black cloud was lifted from over her head. |
Lisa, I am so glad to hear that your son is ok.. You are lucky.. Unfortunately, some people weren't as lucky.. All of my pryers go out to our heroes fighting for freedom!! |
I am so glad that you were able to hear from your son. I can't imagine how you must feel to know that he is over there where it is so dangerous right now. But he and the rest of the soldiers are in my thoughts and prayers and I hope that he will return safe and that your vacation will be one of celebration. Keep us updated on how he is doing over there!! |
