Not a good day We have been in the deep freeze all winter Setting records for below zero temps Well my pipes decided last night it would be a good time to burst. Not sure how many gallons pumped out at least outside . But now the next few days are suppose to be well below zero and I had to turn the water off to my house. I filled up lots of buckets and things so I can at least flush my toilet and have drinking water and water to wash up. I am so done with this winter If I didn't have my grandkids I would pack up and move south Okay rant is done Thank goodness for my awesome son in law he is coming to take a look on his lunch break And he will be the one to fix So very blessed to have him when dh is gone |
I am sorry you are now having to deal with frozen, broken water pipes. It has been a hard winter for so many people. Perhaps your sil can bypass the broken line so you can have water in part of your house. |
OMGoodness, here in Pa. last night evening temp was zero degs. with a wind chill factor of 15 to 21 degs BELOW ZERO, I feared frozen pipes, I left heat on for 70 degs, opened all cabinet doors so heat would could get in keep pipes warm. This winter has been UNBELIEVEABLE. I have been with out the use of water for several days in the past. I always keep 7.. 2 1/2 gals of water for "just in case" sooo very sorry you have this prob. hope your son-in-law can get it fixed ASAP. |

oh no that is so horrible!! so sorry I hope your son in law can fix it with ease. I understand about being done with winter and we are going to have more snow here on monday. I am sending many prayers your way for things to get fixed and no more issues. |
You sound like me! I am so fed up with this cold winter! I am ready to move south, if it wasn't for my family and grandkids that live so close. My son, who farms and loves the outdoors is ready to move south, too! Iowa has been in a very cold snap most of the winter! Not to mention my last heating bill! Frozen pipes would be the last straw! I do hope you get things unthawed and flowing freely! |
thanks all I try to stay very positive But the good lord is surly testing me the last few years But I tell myself I have a home I have food and so many lost souls live on the streets and have nothing So why should I complain right? But darn its getting old |
Horsnaround, It certainly doesn't sound like a good day. I'm in Ohio and with temp this morning minus 6 and not even including wind factor our pipes won't last much longer. My daughter and son-in- law have an older home that they have put a good deal of work into but not the plumbing, they are holding their breath and whether they break over the week-end or the cold spell they tell us we will have next week or not break they are replacing plumbing. So many areas of the country are suffering still. |
UGH!!! I feel for you!!! :( I hope your son-in-law can get your water back up & running fairly quickly! This winter has been a rough, miserable one!!! Today it is only going to be 18 degrees high here, -1 tonight. I'm SOOOO sick & tired of the cold, I can't stand it anymore. I told DH that I'm ready to have a melt down.. this about the time of year that I'm absolutely fed up & done with winter weather, yet it still lingers for another month or more at least! :( |
I am so sorry for all of you that are dealing with the cold winter. It is just unbelievable that it can go on and on. It has been so long since I lived in cold places, I'm sure I could not stand it. Hope spring is just around the corner for you all. |
I'm sorry, I feel for you. It's been rough here too. My pipes busted about a month ago. Luckily it was just the pipe to my storage building and it had a separate shut off valve so I was able to turn it off without turning all of my water off but it ran all day while I was at work....made for a wonderful water bill this month. One of my coworkers has been without water for over a month because her pipes are frozen underground somewhere. They think it's under the road and she's having a terrible time getting someone to help her out. I've threated many times this Winter to pack up and move. We're supposed to get another big snowstorm this weekend. |
Do y'all let your water drip when it is getting that dad gm cold???? Down here, we turn on the heat (not me until it gets in the 40's in the house!! I LOVE a cold house!) and open the cabinet doors like some one mentioned above, but we also let our water drip inside the house, in at least 3 different sinks/tubs, if it is going to be below 30* for over 6 hours, and if it is down into the 20's, water trickles! It is a lot cheaper than repairing frozen pipes/dfamaged home/damaged furniture, etc!!! We are having a wonderful, wonderful winter this year....actually getting some cold weather....maybe it will kill off fleas, ticks, etc...last year, we had ONE DAY where it reached 30*, so this year is a blessing!!! Now, my brother up in Paris Texas, is having problems with ice and snow, and broken tree linbs, etc......that is where I am supposed to be relocating....perhaps am rethinking moving that far north, since he goes 3-7 days without electricity when winter is harsh up there.....at least nothing in his fridge or freezer spoils! |
Good news he got it fixed I owe him big. It ended up being two places where it's clamped together the clamps had broke. So it pulled apart he was able to clamp it back and I have water It was just the hot water It just a crawl space and not much room I am so blessed to have such good people in my life Now to get the fun water bill. And yes my facets are always dripping. |
Yay for getting your water back. Our water well quit working last night but luckily my dh has a spare boost capacitor to get it going until the new capacitor comes in. Life is so much easier with running water.:) |
Oh my gosh, how terrible! I do not miss the cold weather one bit. Yikes. |
