Artificial flowers... I have a neighbor who has the prettiest flowers on her deck. Nothing else anywhere is blooming because of the ice/snow situation a week ago. She told me that they all all artificial, and she choose to use artificial because of all of the bees/wasps,yellow jackets we have in the spring, summer and fall. I always plant annuals every spring, and battle with the flying, stinging insects throughout the season. She may have a good idea; I've never heard of artificial flowers outside. |
I do the same thing!! I have small azalea bushes all around my two trees in the front yard....I put them out, stick the stalks right down into the dirt flower bed around the tree, and they look beautiful! In the fall and winter, I change them out to yellow and orange mums! They last about 3 years, and as soon as they start to even begin to look like they are fading, I buy new ones and replace them. I then move them to pots and urns in my back yard....dogs cant reach them and I dont have to worry about poisonous plants in the back.....and I can still enjoy the color and pretty flowers in my back yard. It may seem expensive, but I calculated what I used to spend on live plants that either died or attracted stinging bugs, that needed watering and needed spraying and fertilizing....I actually save a lot of money using silk flowers in my beds and pots! |

Her neighbors landscaped and I guess she felt compelled to try and keep up with the joneses. |
I could use a few flowers blooming or otherwise right about now, I have had it with winter.;) I have never heard of it outside either. |
Dollar tree actually has nice silk flowers. Has anyone tried spraying them with anti fade stuff? I know it works well on flags. |
