Setting up the Tree We are a week late this year, but our tree is in the midst of being decorated:D It will be a couple of days affair, as I stand back and re-arrange what my loved ones put on the tree. We don't do themes, we do do, what are our favourite decorations. And my end job is to try to put the hodge podge together that tries to be harmonious. And of course take all the low hanging decorations off the tree... Pets ya know. My hubby God bless him, puts the tree in its stand and centers it and waters it, and puts the lights on...... And then I re-arrange the lights;) Our outdoor is done in a minimalist fashion. Each year, I try to do, not more, but more of what is the best for our holidays. We will host the Xmas dinner as always. But each year I find ways to make ahead the dishes, the desserts, so that when the day comes, I can be there totally. For friends, for our dogs, and the dinner just cooks along. And I am now in the 11th day to my personal celebration of Christmas with meditation and candle lighting. I absolutely adore these holidays. Everything good about it. Creating a festive holiday home. Praying, meditating. Connecting with distant friends. Doing just a bit more, not in gifts, but in giving. Not in discord, but in accord. Receiving and giving. Touching and reaching out, and being touched and receiving. So I do say, ignore the "commercialism of Christmas", it has been here for a long while, we all know that is not what it is about. Let the deals and the panderers of those deals slide in and out of your consciousness. Don't worry about the gift giving, just give of yourself to your loved ones. A call, a card, a flower. A laugh shared, a hug given, a thank-you for you; for sure epitomizes what this season of Peace is about. Enjoy this special time of year. May your time be full of light and blessings. That is my Christmas wish to all. |
You've got the right idea, Gemy. This is what we try to do also. We always host the family Christmas dinner and it's grown into an all day gathering starting with breakfast and ending with going out to see the lights at night after dinner. Merry Christmas to you and yours! |

A beautiful Christmas wish, Gail. Wishing you and yours the same. |
The gift of love is the most precious gift of all. It's always what touches the heart the most, and it brings about the most beautiful and lasting memories. I hope this holiday season brings you many magical, loving, joyful moments and that your heart is touched by the gifts of the heart that you so generously give to others. |

Last Christmas was one of the BEST ever! My mom was here, my brother was here and my other brother had his kids. We did Christmas at our house, and we told anyone & everyone they were welcome to come. I didn't even go to my Dads on Christmas day, I went the next day. We stayed home, all of us, watched movies, lit a fire in the fireplace, made a prime rib (so easy and not time consuming at all) with baked potatoes & green beans. We made a couple desserts days earlier, so we didn't have any food prep at all. Prime rib just needs salt & Pepper, 1 hour at 500 degrees and 2 hours resting with the oven off, while the potatoes baked. It was SO nice and relaxing to do that. This year we are driving all over creation to visit with everyone. Kind of sad to spend hours on the road when I'd rather be with my loved ones. I guess to get to them one must travel a bit. Have a very beautiful Christmas everyone! |
No PoweR for Two days. No word on when we get it back. Razzle is confused. He is all dressed for outside but we are still inside! |
OH NO! Thats awful! I will pray it comes back today for you! Do you have a generator or a back up plan for dinner? I would think the grill outside would cook it perfectly if you need to! :) |
Yes To a portable GeneRAToR. No way. Bbq will heat up at - 15 deg |
