Anyone tried the oatmeal diet? I am going to give it a try. I have been working out everyday and eating healthy, but I'm thinking this might move things along faster. Plus oatmeal is good for you. Mix in some fruits and veggies and I should be getting the vitamins I need still. It'll get boring eating oatmeal for 30 days, but I am on a mission!!! If this has worked for anyone, please let me know. :) |
I am in my mid-40s and have a history of severe hyperthyroidism. With my illness, I learned a lot about metabolism and hormones. I would skip the fad diets. Feed your body and fuel your metabolism. When you starve your body, you damage your metabolism. Often the damage is permanent and it gets worse as you grow older and your body naturally slows down. Starving or depriving yourself causes stress. Stress has a negative impact on metabolism and the body as a whole. Yes, stress can also cause weight loss. It can work both ways. Eat right, exercise, and get plenty of rest. |

I just seen a picture of my big butt this morning and it got me going OMG! :eek: But what you are saying is right. I don't want to mess up my body. BTW. for me stress definitely has a "gain" effect. And when I stress I can't lose it either. |
BTW, I was in the background of a pic with my rear facing the camera. I wasn't shooting a pic of my butt or anything. lol |

That is when I know it is time to put down the ice cream. :D My weaknesses are sugar, not getting enough rest, and lately not getting enough physical activity. I'm same with salt. You need to make sure you drink tons of water. Esp me, since I do drink, that is dehydrating as well, so i need to drink even more water. While I do see bad food make me gain weight, I also see it in my skin. My skin is dry so when I get more dry I look really tired and old. I've been doing well with all fruit and veggie smoothies in the mornings. This may be TMI, but when we were on vacay, of course we didn't make our smoothies. Didn't have the "right" kind of poop for the whole time. As soon as we got home and got back in the routine, things went back to normal. I agree with Kristin, forget about the fad diets. Eat healthy, with lots of fiber, cut out sugars and processed foods. Try cooking at home more, and from scratch. I love doing that. It's almost like a challenge, what can I make from scratch that is better from what I can get store bought. Sure it takes longer, but you know exactly what is going into your food. |
Oatmeal is great energy food. I always take it when I'm doing backpacking trips in the mountains since it packs 100+ calories per ounce dry. Cook it in milk with some cinnamon added and it tastes great too. I don't know if oatmeal diet means eating oatmeal for all your meals (that would be lunacy), but it's a great start to the day next to a couple of eggs fried in olive oil. |
