I know someone on here has a pdf file of the important posts Who was it that made a pdf file of the important posts on here? Whoever it was, can you please post to this thread? I think it would be great for you to email the file to Debbie and anyone else who may be interested in reading the Healthy Eating info without having to weed through the blaa blaa blaa. :D Not that I MIND the blaa blaa blaa, heck, most of it is MINE!! LOLOLOL So step up to the plate, and forgive me for not remembering who it was!! Menopause. That's my excuse and I am sticking to it!! DEBBIE!! Thanks for becoming "Official", girlfriend!! In looking through your grocery food choices, you did GREAT without my help!! Reading lables is a big part of it. If you have 6 cans or boxes to choose from of the same item, read all the lables and make the healthiest choice! Be aware of fat, sodium, carbs, and calories as you read. Step AWAY from any trans fats, and keep your saturated fat as low as possible. As far as your dinner, you did GREAT (except for the candy!! lololol ONE piece, eaten very very slowly and savored greatly would be just fine!!) Olive oil, canola oil, or one of the butter substitutes we talked about (smart balance) is fine to cook in. I prefer olive oil myself. It's "good fat", and if you use as little as possible, you are doing well. Cut all visible fat off your chops, and of course grilling is a perfect way to cook! HOORAY for YOU!! :yay_jump: I am very happy to see you here! Give Oscar a kiss from Wosie!! Hugs! :p |
Deep down I really know what we should be eating, but it is so much easier sometimes to go the "way of the world". But I have made a decision here and I am sticking to it. We went this morning to get some baby chickens (gonna raise our own eggs) and go to the goat sale to get our goat Jack a buddy. Dewaine was hungry and wanted a biscuit (it is gonna be hard to get this man to change his ways). So McDonald's it was and you will be happy to know that I got the Fruit & Yogurt Parfait in lieu of the biscuit! He got a Sausage Egg McMuffin (don't even what to know the fat in that!) and I did fuss at him. I guess I should have made him sit down to cereal or oatmeal before we left..but it was last minute and off we went. I think some of my health issues are just lack of use and after I do this awhile, I will re-evaluate my aches and pains. But Dewaine has some serious health issues...Graves Disease, High Cholesterol & Type II Diabetes. He is very active tho in the yard and if I could just get him to eat better, he might just pull out of his unhealthy slump...you guys keep rooting for him!!! I will post now and then and let you know how it is going...I told Glad I need to come here and vent!!! |
Did someone say pdf?? Quote:
Yes, if you needed printable copies, pm me, I'll send them over on a disc (email's too big, unless you know specific pages you want). Kathy |
Thanks Kathy!! Quote:

You keep on trying, girlie!! Quote:
Work into it gradually! I love the biscuits I make at home using substitute ingredients! Morning Star Farms makes some great sausage patties out of soy, and they taste AWESOME! REALLY! And I use egg white products like Egg Beaters constantly!! You can make a sandwich to rival McDs if you try! And the health benefits are enormous! Take baby steps to get there, Deb. It would be great if you could jump in with both feet and Dwayne's too, but that's too abrupt of a change and it will scare him off. Do it gradually, don't TELL him about your healthy substitutions, and he will never realize it! :p A hungry man will eat anything you put in front of him if you don't tell him what it is, LOLOL!! :D |
sorry guys, haven't posted in a while, forgot to pm, but i'm down to 122 lbs, lost 3 !!!! ya,, been running my butt off, for my wedding, getting close, June 3rd..... |

Hey everyone! It has been ages since I've posted. I've been so swamped at work and at home. I also usually just hit new posts and I've been neglecting the weight loss thread. Sorry Glad! But I'm back. Things are going well for me. I do fall off the wagon once in a while, but unlike the old days, if I eat something unhealthy I don't tell myself forget it, I just can't do this healthy eating thing. Instead I regroup and get right back to healthy eating. I've been traveling for work and just love when someone else makes me a meal and it's all good for me. If I could hire a chef at home I'd be really happy! Hubby still likes to cook "his way" and he does most of the cooking, but I see him making some healthy choices without even realizing he's doing it...like choosing whole grain pasta instead of the white heart attack on a plate. He bought chicken strips and salmon steaks! How cool is that???? I'm down to 195 which means I've lost 20 pounds. I feel a difference in the way my clothes fit. In fact, I'll be needing some new things for summer! Yeah I love an excuse to shop. My doctors are fiddling with my medications again which makes my blood sugar go up, which means more insulin, which means weight gain so I'm very proud of the fact that I haven't gained anything back. This healthy eating is becoming second nature to me now, I find myself heading for the fruits and veggies and not the desserts without having to think about it! That to me is a major change in my life! |
WOW, Teri!! Quote:
You are an example for us ALL, Teri!! Thank you so much for posting!! :D |

LOLOL, I am not a big fan of tofu, either!! Quote:
Here's what I do: 2 cups whatever flour you want to use! I mix it up. 1 tbsp baking powder Aprox 1/3 cup Smart Balance Buttery Spread (It's the one in the tub, not the squeeze one) 3/4 cup milk Herbs, spices, parmesan, poppy seeds, whatever you want! Mix flour and baking powder (and if you are using herbs, spices whatever, mix them in too). Use pastry cutter or fork and cut Smart Balance into flour until blended. Make a well in the center of the flour mix, add milk, stir with fork until evenly blended. Don't overmix so biscuits will be tender. Roll out and cut if you want to. I never do, I put a couple tbsps in my hand, gently roll in a ball and flatten slightly. Use leftover milk droplets from your measuring cup to smear on top of biscuits. Place on (non fat) pam-sprayed cookie sheet and bake at 400 degrees for 10-15 minutes, or until tops are slightly brown. Serve with Smart Squeeze or any other low fat spread! ENJOY! |
A Squad There goes our head cheerling squad again... lol. :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :woof: :yay_jump: :yay_jump: |
Thanks Glad for the recipe! I usually made them from self rising flour and BUTTER!!! I will try them this way and see how it goes...I have a recipe for mayonnaise rolls somewhere and I bet you could use fat free mayonnaise in them too...there are more ways than one to skin this cat...or should I say "skinny" this cat!!! Wooo hooo!!! |

DEB!!!! I am SO EXCITED FOR YOU!! Quote:
Congrats on the four pounds gone, my friend!! That is COMPLETELY AWESOME!! :clapsmile HUGS! |
Jeeeeeez! I dunno what happened! I stopped getting email updates on this thread. Good news! I'm still steadily losing weight (2lbs last week) and I've started excercising again. It was hard for awhile because we had a TON of rain here in San Francisco, my county was declared a disaster zone. All of my excercise is outdoors, but my soon-to-be mother in-law has a treadmill which I've started to use and the weather is clearing up, good things ahead! Deirdre |
Can I join? :) What do you need? |
O.K. I"m here..I guess I should start by telling my height weight and where my problem areas are and my goal. I"m 5'9 and I weigh 155 lbs maybe a little more. For the build of my body that is alot. I"m tall but my frame is more petite so I have been guessed at weighing alot higher because i carry the majority of my weight in my tummy. I look like i'm pregnant. I've also started putting it on in the hip area as well as the top part of my legs. My goal is to lose 25 pounds in fat but hopefully gain some of that back in muscle. I don't want to be muscular just fit. So I'm coming to you all at the suggestion to Jaspermom for help. I haven't felt good about myself in a long time. I can't tell where my boobs end and my belly starts and i'm tired of that. So will you help me? |
me too, I think I need to join this thread as well. I am way over my ideal weight, way over... :( but that is why i need this to help change my life before my kids, fur and skin lose their mommy. |
Absolutely! Quote:
Kathy was also keeping statistics last I knew. Is that still happening? If you aren't keeping group stats, then you can keep your own individual stats by weighing yourself every week and recording your own losses. If you would like to brag about them, we would LOVE to hear it!! I'll let JKat chime in and tell us what the status of the club is these days! :p |
I probably should of mentioned one thing..that was what i weighed the last time i got on a scale..that was quite some time ago lol..so I am not sure of my exact weight now.. |
Thank you for the warm welcome. so i need to buy some weight scales and get this going. I'm actually excited. |
I am very glad you are excited! Quote:

I need to join this thread. Other than reading this thread from the beginning what do I need to do? Do you need any info from me? |
