Help Small Business through Facebook, Google, Twitter I appreciate Amazon, Target, and other giants, but I also like mom and pop small businesses. Google and Facebook are making it harder than ever for small businesses to compete by requiring payment to be seen and heard. You can help your favorite small businesses by "Liking" their Facebook pages. To make sure you see all of the posts from the business, hover over the "Like" button and click "Show in newsfeed" or "Add to Interest Lists." Every time you "Like" a post or leave a comment, you are helping that business. Same with giving a Google +1. You can also share links from the business' website on Facebook and Twitter. Each "Like" and share sends a signal to Google and helps boost that business in search engine results. Thank you to everyone who has supported my small business. |
Superb post Kristin! In light of the FB crackdown recently I've also dedicated a thread on Sherrys Pet Stuff to helping others get or stay within the guidelines so their personal account or Page doesn't get taken down. Another thing that's handy is as a Page you can change the preset Notifications button so that you get them from other Likes. |
You both are liked on Galen's and my page. I will keep with the likes on the page. |
Kristin, I also linked on Galen's pictures with his grape buddy belt your site. |
Great post....I love supporting your business in any way I can. And others here at YT here. And hey, don't forget about Pinterest folks! I was reading an analyst article the other day that said a Pinterest pin has more 'life' and 'longevity' in terms of market power than a tweet or like, by far. I think it's bc a Pin can keep going forever and ever and ever as people just keep pinning it. |

Pinterest, yes! Excellent social medium that I left out. I agree that a pin has an unlimited lifespan and therefore, the most power. |
Great post, Kristin. I always try to support small business when I can. As to the recent Facebook thing...that was just a small group of people from what I have gathered. It appears to me that someone reported someone and then it grew from there...and people associated ended up with their accounts closed. It's a shame, but that is what people do. Sherry you used the word crackdown, but I have yet to find anything that supports it as such. Again, seems to be a localized thing...and it is something that has been going on for years. If they are made aware of a dog account or some such other thing, I think they act....but I would not believe they are going through accounts one by one seeking these accounts out. But, when it comes to crackdowns, this is one that people should take seriously especially people who are not a legitimate business. The IRS is not an agency to play around with....this smells crackdown to me: IRS collecting tax payer information from Facebook and Twitter - DC News FOX 5 DC WTTG |
I used the word because of a few recent articles I've read when I looked for "How to use Facebook". Apparently last week FB also made changes that now allow them to use our content and comments for advertising purposes. I've got to agree with Linda & urge anyone who hasn't gotten the proper licensing from their states to do so. As small potatoes as I am, it was one of the first things I did when I turned my hobby into a business. |
I really try to support mom and pops everywhere I go, and I always steer clear of large corporate chains when it comes to restaurants and markets, but it's really hard to do it with everything. Walmarts of the world will eventually take over everything and we will all be shopping at the same bland boring stores for the same made in China crap. |
I always support small business owners, I believe I liked both Kristen and Sherry's business on Facebook but will check for sure (along with my favorite pad provider T Bumpkins). |
and I thank you for all your support on both G+ and FB. :) |

I totally agree - help the small businesses and entrepeneurs! Me and my husband are brand new business owners and trust me - what Kristin is saying helps a lot! |
