Business Casual Attire! HELP! I just got a new job and business casual is the dress code...what is considered business casual? what is not appropriate? HELP! lol I googled this but I don't own anything like they are describing so i was hoping someone could help me out with this and make it simple haha! THANK YOU! |
I think it really depends on the company. If you dress in simple classic style you can not go wrong. After a bit of time you will be able to adjust your clothing style to fit the company. |

Biz caz is just what you would usually wear to go to church or court - nice, tasteful clothes and accessories and not the casual wear of vacation or things you would wear around the house or to run errands, attend sporting events or slinky, sexy date or fancy or formal evening wear. |
what type of field and job do you have. Most of the time follow what the person just up the ladder from you wears. For guys it's a no brainer dockers (kakis) and a golf polo type shirt works. Same thing for gals really, just more feminine. Normally no tanks, no capris, shirts with sleeves and depends on the company some don't allow sandals. dress slacks and moderate blouses or twin sets are probably your best choice till you have a chance to look around and see how everyone else dresses. Thank you everyone! I am a nurse but I will be in the office part of nursing so NO scrubs allowed, which is what I've been used to for years lol. It is at a hospital not a doctors office also, not sure if that makes a difference. I have a pair of dress slacks and some "nice" tops but not sure if its too nice for casual work wear... |
slacks, no jeans or yoga pants. blouses. I am old fashion, I think everything looks better if you iron it. The fact that you care, tells me you will be appropriate. Congrats on your new job :) |
Congrats on your new job, One simple rule is to just keep it classy !! Dress slacks and a nice top or blouse. No graphics or low cut tops or tight pants. No tennis shoes either, nice low heal or casual flats. Casual dress but not relaxed. |

You can't overdress, you can only under dress. So don't worry about being 'too nice'. For business casual around here it usually means anything but jeans, no tshirts with slogans. Nothing torn, no shorts, no tank tops, but sleeveless is ok. Mostly around here flip flops are ok, some companies say no flip flops with the plastic buttons on the bottom, they break too easily. I wouldn't wear gym type clothes. Nothing too tight or revealing. Other than that, for the most part, anything else is fine. |
I agree, I work from home but travel a lot for my job. When a customer states "business casual" I always go with trouser slacks and a nice casual sweater (usually a turtleneck in the Winter) and some very understated jewelry. I our office it is casual also but I have a couple of pairs of trouser jeans that I keep pressed and ready just for trips to the office. Never wear yoga pants, capri's, sneakers or a t shirt with a graphic (those are my rules). |
