Wedding favors?? Ok so my wedding is creeping ever closer and I still don't have favors! Not only that but I really have no idea what I even want to do. I have about 35 guests a lot of whom are flying in so I wanted to do something really special and memorable but I don't know what. little back ground we do not do wine or coffee I know a lot of favors are drink themed but I rather not go that route. Any suggestions?? |
If they are flying in from out of town you can have a gift basket for them waiting in their hotel rooms with a few items monogramed. |
You could have a candy bar at the wedding and people can make their own goodie bags. The candies could have yours and hub's initials. Do you have a theme to your wedding? |

I went to the dollar store and both gift bags in the color of my wedding. I bought large bags of candy and then divided them up into small clear bags tied with pretty ribbons. At Costo I bought a big box of small bags of chips and pretzels and added those to the gift bags with a few bottles of water and a note thanking them for coming to the wedding. I also included a local map with directions to the church and reception and a list of important phone numbers. This was given to the guests when they checked in, this did not cost much but it made a nice impression and people said the map was very helpful For the reception gifts. I bought candy molds and my bridesmaids helped me make the chocolate candy a few weeks before the wedding, since my wedding was inside in August melting was not a problem. You could do so many things like pretty packets of blue bell seeds, or lavender seeds in a tiny tin pail. you could make a copy of your engagement photo and glue it on the tin and tie a ribbon on it. you could buy small herb pots and buy material and cut squares with pinking shears and tie it with a piece of raffia. |
just had another thought. I love using picture frames as favors and or place cards. You can pick up some great frames at home goods or Kohls or on line. They can sit on the plate and you can either hand write a note, or type and copy a note or their names and then they can keep the frame. I have even found small ones at the dollar store that I have used for place cards at my home for dinner parties, I jazz them up a bit with colored paper and the persons name and no one would guess they come from the dollar store. Also if your wedding is near Christmas even some ornaments make nice gifts. OK LOL do you want me to consult as your wedding planner, free of charge of course |
you guys are right- they are coming from far. It would be nice to do something extra special for them. I like the bluebell seeds thing- then they could take a bit of Texas back with them :D |

You could give away some flower seed packets specially monogramed, (they are easy to make and inexpensive) or candles which are cute and practical (and they can match the color of your wedding). |
People will remember the thought of the favors not the cost. |
I love the bluebonnet seeds idea! My favorite kind of favors are ones that represent something personal to the couple. The venue, where he proposed, first date, hometown, local goods, your heritage...all those could inspire a wedding favor. I'm getting married at a rose nursery so I want to do flower seeds, local honey with a little honey dipper, some floral teabags, maybe handmade rose soap...something gardeny like that. |

http://www.swallowtailfarms.com/ We did m&ms with our names, the date, thank you and 15 years and the bubbles. |
Keeping with the texas theme...you could include a horseshoe with the explanation of the tradition, good luck to hang it over your doorway. Or a texas shaped cookie cutter and ingredients to a family recipe, in a mason jar? A custom blended steak rub? Eta the butterfly idea is so precious. gotta write that down in my organizer! |

I thought of them too late to order, but if I had it all to do over, I would have done them instead. We had an outdoor wedding, around 7:00 in the evening and to watch them all fly is breathtaking. |
