It really is worth it. It focuses on so many of society's problems without ever being preachy, and there are just so many memorable characters and amazing acting performances. I love this scene from Season 1.

There are so many more scenes way better than this one, but I don't want to post any kind of spoilers.

My foundation is hosting a Golf Tourn and Poker tourn in a few weeks and Steve Gomez , real name Steven Michael Quezada is coming and Skinny Pete just called us personally today!!! I was so shocked. We emailed his agent to ask if he would attend and he personally called us and told us how great he thought the cause was, and he was so heartbroken to tell us he could not make it, but he's on a new show called The Blacklist and he just tried to rearrange his schedule but he couldn't... but wow he was so nice and so not like his character on the show which is hilarious!

Wow that is so awesome! I'm so proud of you Brit. All the energy you put into your brother's foundation. You're doing such good work and it's paying off. :)

He has every excuse in the world to do what he does for that quick dollar, but he ends up completely destroying the world around him while the drug game morphs him into total evil. It's basically a show about how the drug game will steal the soul of anyone.

I agree with you, but I still have a hard time seeing Walt as a truly bad guy. Sure, he's killed people, and in real life that would make you bad, but I still see it as everything he's done has been justified... So far. I'm still a few episodes from finishing the series.

I just feel sorry for the guy. I mean he got cancer and he doesn't even smoke! The company he founded is now worth billions while he struggles to pay the bills! Just seems like everything is against him. And he does it all for his family and now even his wife is just waiting for him to die? I mean come on! How much can a guy take?

I can't see Walt as any kind of sympathetic character. Not when he forces Jesse to go murder Spooge and then Gale. Not when he poisons Brock to turn Jesse against Gus. Not when he thinks his wife keeping the house is more important than all the lives he completely destroys with his product. I absolutely hated Walt almost from the beginning. If I was Skyler at that point I'd be praying for Walt to die soon too. I really disliked Skyler at the beginning of the series for how she bossed Walt around, but no one deserves the crap she has to deal with due to Walt. Having to do felony money laundering just to protect her children from that monster would make me start counting his days left too.

I'm curious... how far are you from the end? Just this once I'll drop a spoiler: the final episodes are among the strongest of the entire series.

People have gone through cancer and left families penniless and didn't stoop to turning into a ghoul that sucks everyone into their vortex of misery and evil as some sort of panacea or revenge for some hard knocks from life for their personal misery and the fact they got taken for a ride by some "good friends". Truth is, Walt's family would have fared a lot better and with less horror, shock and agony if he'd just dealt with his life blows the way most folks do and that's bravely head-on with a little grace, doing all the good they can on the way out and leaving those that knew and loved them full of great memories and wiser for the things they've taught them about what really matters in life when the going gets tough. The luckiest, sharpest people in the world know that in the scheme of things, life isn't about getting even or repaying an eye for an eye because you've had some very bad breaks or stacking up piles of blood money but working at your purpose in life with hope in your heart, caring about, supporting and serving each other, helping those that are downtrodden and in trouble, even when one's own life gets very hard and unfair, and leaving this world a better place because we were here for a while and looking forward to a far better place.

In all fairness, in real life I totally agree with you guys. But this is a TV show. If you didn't like the main character to some degree, how can you like the show? The way it's written is for you to like or at least care about the main character and root for him. I am totally rooting for Walt.

I am currently watching the ep where Mike quits and Jesse wants out also, and now Walt is trying to recruit Todd. I am guessing that Todd and his uncle are going to be the new villains?

Do any of you guys see any of the characters as not evil, bad, or corrupt in some way? Of course I"m not talking about Jr or the baby. ;) Pretty much all the characters are "bad". Like Brit said (I think?) what would it take for you to break bad? I guess I sympathize with the characters, I've been there myself! Well not cooking meth, but you know what I mean.

That is so awesome! Make sure you get a picture of Steven flashing that same huge smile he did to the lawyer he caught in the bank vault, lol.

I think Jesse is a good person who made some very bad decisions, as lots of young people do. Walt though.... I mean, no excuse for the hell he puts Jesse through over and over again. It's sad that Jesse is so loyal to him when he seems to care nothing for the money after seeing how much it really costs. There is absolutely no part of me that likes Walt though. Jesse, Hank, Marie, Jr., and Skyler are the people I root for. And I guess Saul too even though he's a crook because he's hilarious.

I totally root for Jesse too, but I don't think he's just a good person who made bad decisions; that is what I think of Walt. I actually don't root for Hank and Marie at all. Same as in how I rooted for George Jung (in the movie Blow), I root for Walt. He started as an underdog and became the best at what he does. So that happens to be illegal. Well.... Anyway, it's a TV show.I have my own thoughts about illegal drugs. Many of them illegal today were not in the past.

Now if only I could find a lawyer like Saul. Don't even get me started.

Ah crap, sorry, I thought that was earlier in the season and that you had seen it already.

I think drugs should be fully legalized, only because pushing things to the black market just makes them an unregulated income source for worthless criminals like Walt. Make them legal, never allow them to be advertised, tax the hell out of them to cover their true cost to society the same way cigarettes are, take that money and put it into rehab programs, and perhaps most importantly, take the kids out of the drug game and push sales to pharmacies, where you must be 21 to buy. It sickens me that when I was in jr high and high school it was 10x easier to score some coke than it was to get a beer, since drug dealers don't check ID. Unfortunately it might never happen in this country since the privatized prison industry has so much power.

Yikes! Sorry, BB Fans. Woke up this morning and was thinking about my post here last night and thought: what was I thinking???? Was having a bad day myself yesterday, so much had gone wrong and had a raging headache last night, was very hungry when I looked in on this thread and just posted away dissing your show. Shouldn't have done it! This is a thread for BB fans who are into and enjoy the BB show and I shouldn't have even posted here. Feel like an idiot this morning. Ya'll enjoy your show and your discussion. I love the enthusiasm of people for their particular show and love reading about the various the meanings they take from it. Sorry for my bummer post on your thread - won't happen again.

Don't sweat it; it's good discussion and I fully agree with your assessment of Walt even though I love the show.

thanks for all the feedback, not sure if I would like the show but I am curious so I want to give it a try. I guess I am a lightweight, my idea of a good cop show is blue bloods and Castle:D I will look into netflicks, hopefully they still mail out DVD's, we are a bit challenged when it comes to things like hooking up our computer into our TV. I do miss blockbuster it made things easy for us, but thankfully with have the DVR from Comcast.

I think Jessie has a heart and is such a good person and I could not stand what Walt did to him at times.

That said, the writers played with our emotions in such a way that they had all watching rooting for a man 99% of the time, we of course knew was doing the wrong thing. He did love Jesse though. 'He did it for his family' will be explained at the end and I won't ruin it for those that haven't seen it yet.
