Does Anyone Have This Camera?? Do any of you own this camera? If you do, do you like it? I need a camera that takes "action" shots. Any feedback is appreciated!! Nikon D3000 10.2 MP DSLR Bundle with 18-55mm Lens and 55-200mm Lens, Free Bag and 8 GB Card - Sam's Club |
Hello! Welcome to my world!! I adore this camera....I am NOT a photographer, so I set this thing on "AUTO", and just start shooting these puppies! Great results! I dont need to do anything....but if I ever become a "pro", this thing has all the bells and whistles I could ask for! |

That is what I wanted to hear! Thank you!! |
If you are considering this camera, I'd make sure it was at a substantial savings. They have updated it twice since it came out. There is a D3100 and D3200. Check the prices at buydig.com and B&H Photo. They are both very reasonable, reputable retailers. My close friend has this camera and loves it, but her son has the D3100. She said his is better, but she's still happy. For really fast action shots, the cameras with the motors built into them are better, but regardless, I'm sure you'd still love this camera. |
I have one.. I am not sure of the number maybe 3100??? The one I have takes video, it is a couple of years old. I had the D60---gave it to my dd and she sold it and got a little camera that she could put in her purse. I am like yorkiemom, I don't use the bells and whisles..I use auto. I have even taken class but the info just does not stick in my brain. The negatives...it is a bit heavy to carry around. You should see me when I travel.... my camara case, my ipad case, my lap top -- one carry on is for my "stuff" lol |

Lisa is a wonderful camera guru -- she gives great advice. |
Here is the D3100 at a great price. It has video, and also with all of the technology updates, the cameras usually improve in time. My camera, the D300, is several years old. I don't need to update it because I love it, but I would buy an updated one if I were to get another one now. Nikon D3100 Digital SLR Camera Kit with 18-55mm & 13290 B&H BuyDig.com - Nikon D3100 14MP DX-format Digital SLR Kit w/ 18-55mm VR and 55-200mm VR Lenses Without having to pay tax, it's the same price as the Sam's Club one. Both are very highly rated retailers. I live in New York, so I get all of my camera equipment at Buydig.com. They have a store called Beach Camera. Any of these three places are excellent, and the shipping is free at Buydig or Beach Camera. |
Sorry. I just saw the Sam's Club price. Earlier I thought it said $550. $430 is an excellent price for the camera and both of those lenses. |
I have this camera and absolutely love it |
1 Attachment(s) Thank you so much for all the info!! As far as fast, I am using it at a football game. I was using a D70 but it is gone gone gone lol. With the huge lens it was quite heavy too. But did a great job. This picture was taken in the stands where I was sitting. So action is what it is all about in the games lol. This is my son. :) Attachment 389818 |
The cam 1000 is a very good focusing motor which has 11 segments. What you need is good focusing ability and the ability to use a fast shutter speed to capture the image. That becomes more about the low light capturing ability of a camera, since you are using such high shutter speeds to stop the action, and the lens. You should be fine with any of these cameras. The lenses are also nice for kit lenses. Your old Nikon lenses can not be used on this camera. |

I took this from something written about the D3200 which has the same focusing motor as the D3000 and D3100. The 11-point AF system allows quick, precise focusing by blanketing the image field with focus points, helping to ensure the best focus position for sharp images. It takes 3 frames per second. I think you will be very happy with it. Your limitation will more be how bright it is outside to use fast shutter speeds. That's why very serious photographers use lenses that allow a lot of light into them, but they are very expensive and heavy. I have heard so many great things about Nikon kit lenses, and you should be very happy with both of those lenses. |
Thank you! |
