I really think it was the media and the black community that made this into a race thing. Here in Orange County there is a lot of crimes by people of Latino decent with white victims. Never really gets more than a blurb on the local AM station.

Agreed. My son went through this one day when he was a senior in high school. During lunch hour, he and three of his teammates went to the mall to get some running shoes. They got stopped by the police and were treated like they were druggies. The police had their hands by their guns...when my son went to get his insurance and registration from the glove box a plastic ziplock bag fell out (it was used for his crabbing license) and the officer said in a harsh tone, "what's the baggie for"? They continued to make snide remarks which I honestly don't remember now...but that baggie remark was ridiculous. When my son got back to school, he went straight to the track coach...he was scared to death. He called me after school. I called the police who just happened to be in the same town I worked in and I knew many of them.....the officer who had stopped them stopped by my job and in the middle of our discussion he made a remark, "you know how those kids are at _______ school". I was floored...he had clearly profiled them and was actually admitting it. I told him that my son went to _____________ private school for his first three years and that he had chosen this public school for senior year AND that many of the kids in the private school were more of a problem than his friends on the track team at the public school. He did sort of agree with me that it was not fair to judge like that...but the fact remained that YES he did and I could only hope he had learned. That night I had a lengthy discussion with my son about being extremely careful when he was with his friends...it made me sick to my stomach to have that discussion because they were a great group of kids and he is friends with them to this day......, but the fact is there IS racism and it can be dangerous.... and yes it cuts both ways...but SO many people so totally deny it. That is exactly what it is, denial.

I am in 100% agreement with Britster and Cpt_noonie and Yorkiemom1 on this whole issue. The media had left A LOT OF THE FACTS FROM THIS CASE out of the news reports. They further edited a bit of the 911 call Zimmerman placed and made it a racial issue. Our wonderful president didn't help much either by stating if he had a son, he would look like Trayvon. The media further caused racial issues by calling Zimmerman a "white Hispanic." If that is the case, then is our president a "white African-American?" The media, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and our very own president have been the ones causing the racial tensions in this case. Zimmerman didn't say to himself, "I'm gonna shoot this kid because he's black." Zimmerman shot him to defend himself because Martin was on top of him beating him up. I would do the same thing if I were in Zimmerman's shoes. All this said, I believe the president is using this case to further his agenda to get guns out of the hands of the American people. "We should ask ourselves if we're doing all we can to stem the tide of gun violence that claims too many lives across this country on a daily basis," Obama said.

This coming off the Sandy Hook shooting... another way to politicize this case and further Obama's agenda to disarm Americans. Okay, maybe I watch too many conspiracy theories, but it fits right into his palm. Had to put my 2 cents in this.

No one has proven it but then again no one has disproven it. I don't know that anyone will ever know for sure.

Well now, here in Houston Texas, how many thousand miles from what just happened in Florida???? Now we have a mob parading down the middle of a freeway, stopping traffic....and it happens to be the freeway I have to take to work! Where are OUR police??? Why is this stupidity being allowed to continue??? Go parade up and down in front of the courthouse or something....you are keeping PEOPLE THAT ACTUALLY WORK FOR A LIVING, from getting to work!!!! I bet if some pickup truck comes flying over one of those overpasses and plows into that mob, going 70 mph, you can bet that will cause some refocussing of attention and re-evaluating what is important to THESE people.

It was proven by the prosecution that Trayvon called Zimmerman a cracker.......

And this is what is going to make our justice system afraid to go against certain people because of how they are acting.

You know a lot of these people don't give a crap about the trial and the outcome. They see a mob and they see an opportunity. If there is rioting and looting, don't you think more people will come out and loot? There will be less chance of them getting caught! And people marching on the freeway? People will think it's a cool opportunity, stopping traffic by mob.

Do you guys remember of "Carmeggeden" a few years ago? People wanted to ride bikes on the 405 fwy. Didn't happen though.

I 100% agree that kids at private school can be worse I went to a private school where most of the kids in the high school part where there because there parents had no choice they got expelled from all the public schools in there area :eek:

Fortunately the protesters in Cleveland were respectful and keeping T. Martin's memory at the forefront by handing out packs of Skittles. Glad there have not been any crazy mobs (that I have heard of anyway) in our area.

A witness said that, yes. But I fail to get what that is telling me about whether or not Zimmerman is racist. It actually is not proof positive to me that Trayvon was.
