Just an FYI for people with Walmart accounts. Friday night I received an email saying my order has been canceled- knowing I haven't placed an order I was concerned. I called Walmart to see what was going on and it appeared someone hacked in my account and tried making a purchase using my CC#. The order did not go through due to lack of accounting information ( I think it was the 3 number code) The Rep told me there was a hold on that card and she deleted it from my account. I called my CC company, closed that card and I'm being issued a new card/ account.
I've had that card since I was 18, never ever has something like this happened- I went to research and found out that Walmart accounts have been hacked A LOT! Even if you don't save your account, go make sure. My MIL never saves her CC number online, she went to check her account on Walmart.com and sure enough it had been saved!!
Thankfully the order did not go through ($350.00 mini Ipad), which I would have been pretty steamed because I dont even have an Ipad!! LoL | Walmart is notorious for this kind of event! They have a long standing history of hacking problems, customers having CC# stolen, and even checks being"changed"....my cousin had a $75.00 check to Walmart, changed to $750.00, and duplicated, with both checks hitting her bank for payment the same day! One check was the original one here in Houston and the "duplicate" check was the same check that had the sequence number changed, and then presented from El Paso Texas. I can not even begin to get my mind around how in they world they managed to duplicate that check, with the way they do your checks at the register...cant figure it out, but crooks know just how to do it! I think a computer at the bank caught the duplication....and then they discovered the amount had also been changed. The detective that was working the case said Walmart is notorious for this behavior and he suggested anytime we do any business at Walmart or Sams Club, use cash for the transaction. There is a huge ring of crooks that they were trying to get caught that ranged all the way from Alabama, Louisanna, Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, to Arizona. Needless to say, we only use cash now when shopping at Walmart and Sams Club as well....This happened a couple of years ago, and I do not know if they ever got enough on the line of crooks to bust that entire group....I never read anything about it so am guessing they didnt. |
