Lessons learned My employer has been in some financial difficulty, so instead of direct deposit like we have received forever, we are currently getting paper checks. I have learned some things since having to actually pick up and deposit a check in the bank for the 1st time in 15+ years. ★ the ATM machines no longer have envelopes in a pocket on the outside of the machine. No matter how hard you look or how many places on the machine you try to pry open-in full view of the ATM cameras, I might add- you will not find an envelope. :facepalm:If you start the process of the deposit, though, the machine ASKS you if you need an envelope  ★ when the ATM machine actually spits out the envelope you need, be aware that a little tug is needed to release it. If not aware of this, you might drop it and have it float under your car to the most inaccessible area possible, and the machine will not give 2nd chances for another envelope. This means that you must retrieve the dropped envelope. Since there are now 4 cars lined up behind you (as you patted down the machine for the envelope), you cannot back up. Pulling forward indicates you are done and the other cars must somehow be stopped as you inch forward, attempt to reach envelope, inch forward a little more, attempt to reach envelope, realize you can not open your door because of the cement post, inch forward some more...Once envelope is retrieved, you cannot back up to the machine because a car has pulled up before you were able to convey that you were not yet done, so you must walk back to the machine to complete the transaction. ★ as you walk back to the machine, do not insert check into envelope and seal, because you still have to enter the deposit amount into the ATM, causing you to have to unseal the envelope, look at the amount-which you have forgotten during all of the above-and attempt to reseal it adequately so it can be deposited back into the slot from whence it came. I'm sure my bank thinks I am a blathering idiot...because I am!!!:panic: :dribble: Remember, those machines have cameras. :hide2: |

Oh my! That sounds all too funny, and weirdly, too familiar! The last time I was at the bank, the envelopes were more accessible, and you could take the entire pile if you wanted! |
Oh my gosh thats hysterical!!! LOL The ATMs here do not have envelopes anymore! Actually both my banks have apps for iPhone, Android, etc, that you can scan your check at home at deposit it without having to even go to the bank anymore! Its kind of amazing! I have direct deposit though! LOL |

Lol, Marilyn, your post has me laughing! Try actually going into the bank....good lord....I'm utterly lost, having to interact with an actual human. I thought I could just hand them a check and my ATM card and boom, it'd be done. But no, you have to fill out a form still and everything. The nerve! |

Too funny!! I recently made an ATM withdrawal for the first time in years. Considering the difficulty I had doing that, I would never attempt a deposit, lol. Great visuals -- the envelope floating under your car, moving your car. :p |
Oh my goodness, I'm sorry but this has me laughing so hard. This sounds like something that would happen to me. We have direct deposit as well, and I know for a fact I wouldn't know how to do that at all. Actually I would find it hard to trust. If I have to make a deposit I want to be able to see the person and give them the form I have filled out to make a deposit. LOL I know they now have this thing where you can take a picture and then send to bank and it does the deposit. Huh!! I wouldn't trust that either. LOL |

I know I have made a fool of myself at the ATM Machine. I HATE when the sun is shinning bright and you can't read the darn screen and I'm doing every thing I can to read and punch in the correct area. HMM I wonder does this have audio as well??? The things they would hear me say. LOL |

I can see them through the camera portal and I can hear everything they say. One day I was almost finished with the balancing and bringing the atm back online, a customer pulled up and was trying to use the atm..I can talk in a loud voice and they can hear me outside, so I was trying to let him to know it would only be a moment before he would be able to do his transaction.. it was priceless, he yelled in disbelief..OMG THE ATM TALKS TO YOU NOW!! hahaha I can also hear the obnoxious and vulgar comments when the car pulls up and the atm is offline while I am balancing it :D |
Sorry you had a hard time at the bank. With that said you provided very visual images of your unfortunate experience. We have all had those moments that we just wish we could hide under a rock. I can totally see this happening. It's a rotflol moment. Have a great day. |
God help me If I loose my Direct deposit! I'd be right there with you, doing the comedic antics! Thanks you for the wonderful blow by blow action at the ATM! You made my day! :) |

LOL, Now I have been known to say few things when the machine is down, but they aren't vulgar. |

oh no!!! That is nooooot gooood. I have to deposit refund checks for shopping (I have to pay for supplies and then get a check back)... my credit union opened a new branch with a system that you stop at one place .. make the deposit and then pull forward to the second place to get your receipt. Welll.... I dropped the canister.. could not get my door open because of pole... ran over canister trying to move car so I could open door.. put borken canister in tube... left to never return |
