I heard they had been evacuating people did you have to evacuate? |
Very scary!! I'm sure you did feel it. One of my apartments in Chicago was near train tracks and I know how loud a freight train can be when it stays on the tracks. Derailed cars and explosions I can imagine are even louder. After you thought it was a bomb, did you think another earthquake like our last one on the East Coast? |
OMG the 2nd video is terrible. I am glad you guys are safe and not injured. :) |

I felt this!! And I was OVER THE BAY BRIDGE in Queenstown!!:eek: Insane. I was like "that's weird the house just shook" but I thought maybe a big truck drove by or something, we are in the country with lots of farming equiptment etc. Insane!!! |
Holy cow Glad you areok |
I saw KiminMD say on facebook that it happened just 2 miles from her house!!!! Omg! Glad you are both okay. How scary. |
Wow, that's just crazy. I am so glad that no one was seriously hurt. |
It was a rough day, wasn't it Kathy? OMGosh, the explosion was so loud! I called hubby and he came home early. For awhile they didn't know what chemicals were burning, and I was worried if I had to get my mom and the four dogs (we are dog sitting one) out of there, then I'd need to use George's 4 seater truck (I have a two seater car). Thank goodness the fire was contained before it ignited the adjoining cars that had the toxic chemicals in them. The wind was blowing away from us, so were didn't get any of the smoke and chemicals. It took CFX 3hours to identify the chemicals involved. Geez, by then people could have gotten pretty sick. I'm thankful that all was ok, but my nerves were rattled for awhile. |
Wow, that's scary. Glad all of you close to there are ok! |
We live a bit from Aberdeen Proving Grounds, the Army is always exploding stuff there and the noise travels quickly over the waterways. I thought they screwed up and that this was a mistake on their part, lol. It was very loud, even for them! It is really amazing that no one was hurt by the blast! Especially the people that were close enough to video it. Kim: Too funny, I called my DH first too! He said I need to keep FB up all the time to find out what's going on, he knew what it was before it hit the news! Brit: Wow that is just insane! That's over 50 miles from here! |
Wow I am glad you are ok that is very scary!! |
Wow, how scary! |
how scary for you/ glad you guys are ok |
Oh my, very scary! I'm glad that everyone is ok. |
Thanks everyone! The news has reported that the only reason no one got hurt in the building right next to the tracks that sustained damage was because everyone went outside to look at the fire initially. Then one of the owners told them to get in their cars and leave, which they did. They showed pics of the damage... all the furniture was blown all over the place. If they had stayed, some would have definitely been hurt or even killed. Thank goodness their boss was thinking on his feet and insisted they all go home! |
I'm a little late to this conversation, but we certainly did hear about it all over the national news. I believe the train was a CSX. My DH is in the railroad business, so we were particularly interested in the cargo, etc. So glad things are okay for you, Kathy, and everyone near this too. |
