Do Anybody Know Anything About Fancy Goldfish!! I broke my filter this morning, and I am worried that Nemo won't make it 'til I get another one. I was cleaning the filter, and the little skinny tube thingy fell down the drain. :( I feel so bad..Me keeping Nemo alive for 2 years was my hold test to see of I could care for an animal without killing it!( if you saw 28 day, with Sandra Bullock, I thought it was cute) :( From, what I read he will be fine, humph... Merry Christmas |
Do you have an air stone and an air pump you can put in the tank untill you get a new filter? |

I'm not sure, but good luck with Nemo! What a cute name! |
Goldfish are stronger than other tropical fish, it is important to keep the water moving.. But I really think Nemo will be fine for 24 hours without the benifit of a filter or pump. Many fish live in those small goldfish bowls for months without a air stone. Good Luck, and Merry Christmas |
I think tanks can go for around 24 hrs w/o a filter ....good luck! |
Good Luck little Nemo! I hope your little guy turns out all right. I'm sure he will! |

I think he will be fine. I have 3 aquariums and all of them have had the filters broke or off due to power outage or another reason and they have been just fine. Especially my freshwater aquarium. I think you should be okay. You must be doing a great job to have a fish for 2 years! Ive had my freshwater fish for over a year now so hopefully I can make it another year also!! (I havent had the same luck with my saltwater fish though :( ) |

Thank you everyone for your advice. I worried about Nemo, while I was at my Aunt's house, he is just fine. I will be at Walmart in the morning! |

We have a fancy goldfish named woody. He's pretty big; the black and orange spotted kind. we have a problem with green algae getting on sides of tank now for some odd reason. i have used advanced algae destroyer 3 times and it's still coming back. even on the live plants. any one know how to get rid of that stuff for good? looks like little green dots. hope nemo is ok! what a cute name! i've never broke my pump so i don't have any info for you, just hope he does good til' you get another :) |

I'm so glad Nemo is doing good. Sometimes algea can be because of acid or ph problems. Do you have a good water testing kit? You can just take some into your local fish store and they will do it for free. |

Oh no, live plants are great for tanks. They take in carbon dioxide and emit oxygen. I used to have tropical fish tanks before we moved and I had learned the hard way to take care of them. I eventually bought a really good testing kit and found out wow, my fish were way stressed out! I did weekly water changes and used as little chemical as needed. Also you have to consider what kind of bulb you are using and how long you leave it on. If you leave it on all the time, algea will grow more. I'm no expert or anything, I am just giving you my own experience. I had 3 10 gallons 2 20 gallons and 1 29 gallon with all tropical fish and used a heater and used a bit of aquarium salt. If you talk to someone at say Pe+$mar+ they might not know anything or not much, if you go to a local store or call, they will tell you everything you need to know. Good luck and let me know how it goes with your tank! :) |
