What is the YTCA website?? This is about the third reference I have seen. Little help please. Just curious.

I think I'll go out on a limb and say that all toy breeders have bad music playing on their websites :p

Many sites add music to "enhance" your viewing experience, lol! Hah, some even add animation to the music... I wish they would surf a bit and see just how annoying they are. They look/sound beautiful initially but it doesn't last, jmo

It scares me half to death sometimes... My daughter leaves the volume up on my puter and I sign in and AOL screams welcome at me! I recover and hit a website or two and WHAM! some super loud jingle gets me again!

It has often been posted by members on YT that YTCA is an elitist organization for breeders of Yorkshire Terriers only.

I have visited the site often before today and it wasn't until I decided to do some actual reading on the site that I discovered that the statements in the past by members here are incorrect.

This is the first paragraph from the YTCA website on their subpage "About YTCA." Please notice it includes owners of companion yorkies!!!! http://www.ytca.org/about.html

I am glad that I found this information. The membership process is a long process . . . two year relationship with at least two YTCA members that will recommend you followed by voting by the membership after announcing your intent by application to become a member.

Just wanted to share the information that I stumbled across this morning.

This made me laugh. So, in other words, you have to kiss the butts of two YTCA members for two years and then the butts of everyone who is going to vote for you? How does anyone possibly become a member???

I agree that the process is not an easy one. It allows time for investigation into whether you truly condone their ethics policy and code of conduct.

I only wanted to point out that companion owners are eligible for membership since it was previously stated within the forum that they were not eligible.

Amiee - Good Article and you are right but I think it would be real tough to have two members approve you based on the following:

The YTCA has objects, or purposes, for its existence and these purposes are stated in Section 2 of Article I. of the YTCA's Constitution. Before sponsoring a new member, you need to fully understand the YTCA's reason for existence yourself so that you may educate your applicant about why our Club is here in the first place. If your applicant disagrees with Club's purposes or cannot support them, then he or she is not a good candidate for membership to begin with. The five purposes of the YTCA are:

One ... To encourage and promote quality in the breeding of pure-bred Yorkshire Terriers and do all possible to bring their natural qualities to perfection.

Two ... To encourage the organization of independent Yorkshire Terrier Specialty Clubs in those localities where there are sufficient fanciers of the breed to meet the requirements of the American Kennel Club.

Three ... To urge members and breeders to accept the standard of the breed as approved by The American Kennel Club as the only standard of excellence by which the Yorkshire Terrier shall be judged.

Four ... To do all in its power to protect and advance the interests of the breed and to encourage sportsmanlike competition at dog shows and obedience trials.

Five ... To conduct sanctioned matches, specialty shows and obedience trials under the rules of The American Kennel Club.
