Hi everyone,

Even though I've only been here for a bit over 1 month I have learned so much thanks to everyone here.
I wanted to say Thank You for teaching me and for opening my eyes.
Thanks to you I now think and see things differently.
I come from a culture where dogs are just dogs. Where spaying doesn't happen. Where they mate dogs because they look good.
Where dogs mate uncontrollably. Where pups are not taking care of and dogs barely. Where you don't think of where the pups are going to end up, if they are going to be taking care of or if they will live in the streets.
I didn't live very long in Venezuela so I don't remember much but they have the same culture as Bonaire has. There are so many dogs walking in the streets. So many females pregnant and skinny. The owners don't care if the dogs are healthy. Many of them don't even have their first shots.
Thinking back on when I used to live there it makes me sad. We were one of those people. We had a female dog and she gave birth 3 times. Don't know where the pups are or of they survived.
I want to make it my mission to open people's eyes. To make them think of what they are doing to the dogs. To make them aware of what's going on. On what damage they create when letting their dogs mate without control of precautions.
It is not easy when you don't live there. We are on moving back soon and I really want to help the animal shelter there. They now spay dogs for free. It is helping a bit but the culture has to change as well.
My brother lives with my parents and they have 3 dogs (1 male and 2 females). Non of them are spayed and I convinced them to spay the chihuahua female and the mix male (we don't know what he is at all).
But my brothers want to mate his american pitbul (female). I am really struggling with this. I don't know how to tell him not do it, because he is really stubborn and it's hard to communicate with him. I'm really thinking hard on how to let him see that it's not worth the money.

Aw you are so sweet. It really is amazing the people that join YT are from around the world. We don’t always see eye to eye and you are so right about the different cultures. It is great of you to try to make a change, or at least let them know about animal welfare these days.
