Sesame oil is more traditional and some swear it HAS to be sesame...... Idk really. I like the benefits of coco oil and it doesn't make me gag :D

It really worked..my nose was running lke crazy after I pulled!!! And my teeth felt so clean and smooth too.

I have a question-should you brush your teeth AFTER oil pulling, or BEFORE you do it? Just wondering.

Oh Lisa, I've pulled loads of things, but never oil.....;) :D

And when I first saw your thread - I thought I had to worry about Rhonda and her oil-well fiasco again....:eek: :D x

It sounds rather naughty to me too :D. :sidesplt:

Rhonda could pull for years with home grown oil lol

Well, I googled it before I tried it today. And it said to brush your teeth first. So I did that. I seriously almost gagged about 10 times. So I had to spit it out the used oil & put a new teaspoon of oil in my mouth about 4 times. 20 minutes is a LONG time! Anyway, my teeth actually did look whiter. And they did really feel clean. And my mouth stayed "fresh feeling" for longer than it typically does. Even after 2 cups of strong coffee. I did blow my nose after I "pulled". But I don't know if that was from the "pulling" or if it was from the 20 minutes of my facial muscles moving around. I'm going to try it for a week & see how it goes. So far, so good. But I'm hoping that my gagging reflex calms down :(

The "guides" seem to mostly say before and then rinse after. But I don't have any Ayurvedic friends to ask :winky:

I think the 20 minutes of facial movement does help to release the sinuses. Are you still using olive oil?

I have tried olive and coconut and sesame. I like coconut taste the best so far!

I used coconut oil. I figured that would have the best taste for a first timer ;)

Ok. So, I quit smoking for several reasons and one of the top reasons was that I was hoping it would help with my sinus issues. My sinuses have gotten progressively worse over the past 2 years. I won't gross anyone out, but let's just say that the morning times are NOT "nice sounding" in my house.

Sadly, quitting smoking hasn't helped with this (it has helped with everything else so yay).

I'm game to try anything at this point, Lisa. Ok, coconut oil it will be. I'll let ya know later how it goes....

Cheryl, you can buy it at most grocery stores, but I buy Nutiva from GNC.

I'm pretty sure you can get it at Whole Foods. I just used my pup's coconut oil. Lol. Here's what I have: CocoTherapy - Products

But I probably paid triple the average price because it's specifically for "dogs".

I did this last night and this morning. I didn't notice anything beneficial for my sinuses. I swish the oil around in my mouth after brushing my teeth, as I'm putting on my makeup, so that takes about 10+ mins.
