online dating Hi all..... WHAT!!!! Am I doing wrong? I signed up for some online dating and I have gotten a few replys to my profile. Like they are saying I am drop dead gorgeous....yadda...yadda. And they of course want my reply. After I reply they don't make a move. One guy sent me his phone number...so I gave him a call later that day and there was no answere just voice mail and he never returned my call. What am I doing wrong...or does all this you are beautiful mean they are waiting for me to invite them over for a drink and dinner...before we even get to know each other?????? Confused:confused: If anyone is savvy to this online stuff please let me know what all this means. Thanks Tina |
im not savvy about this subject but i do know when my bff divorced she signed up for online dating and said the samething. she ended up dating a guy from work and is now in love!! hehe. wishing you the best of luck. i am trying to remember but i think match.com now does real life meet and greets. maybe you should check in your area and see if they have any meet ups.......online can be so bogus plus how do you really know there is any chemistry from pics and online conversation. just a thought. |
I found mine in a chat room... Funny thing is we had known each other for years but I never paid attention to him because I hate guys with long hair :p |
I've done online dating for over ten years...that's how I met my current bf and we have been dating for almost a year and a half...send me a pm and I will give my advice about...the good bad and ugly. :) |
I met my hubby online but it wasn't on a dating site so I can't help. I'm so happy Bobbi can help you out! This is what happened in my case...I was just going thru a divorce from my 1st hubby and it was when AOL was new and the "big thing". I was online in my new apartment and I got an Instant Message pop up that said, "Hellow" I mean..c'mon! How can you not answer that?! :D |

Aww, I think when it is meant to be the guy will come to you- I signed my Mom up for one of those well Hubby and I did- This guy wanted to meet her. The picture he had was very normal- he was an OK looking guy. Well we planned to meet him at Starbucks, I told my Mom I wanted to join, I wanted to make sure this guy wasn't going to do something creepy- well we were sitting outside and this big guy with a long shaggy hair and a long grossly beard came walking up OMG it was him!! We were so shocked, that was NOT the guy in the pics!! We didn't want to be rude so we entertained him- we sat there and talked. Man was this guy a creep! He brought his “rock collection” and he even asked if I could buy him a coffee!!! Hahaha It was a memory we would cherish forever!! Ha, my Mom has asked me not to do that to her again!! LOL |
I signed up for online dating when my marriage ended. Met a lot of creeps! The day I was closing my account was the day I got a beautiful poem....read the poem, and thought 'wow!' Met the man who is now my fiancé!! We've been together now two and a half years! |

It could be the site... :) Which site are you on? I know a few friends that go on Plenty of Fish POF.com ™ The Leading Free Online Dating Site for Singles & Personals with GREAT results :D |
I met my boyfriend on an MMORPG. That's massively multiplayer online role-playing game. We started talking daily and becoming friends. That grew to us talking about very personal things, and eventually, we realized we were actually in love. Of course, all my friends thought he must be a creepy holder man and yada yada....he is actually a very normal guy who has a great family and is extremely intelligent and friendly. There were other boyfriends before him but none were the right guy for me. It just so happened that the right guy for me happened to live in a different state. And so now here I am, 5 years later! We've lived together now for over a year and I am where I am meant to be :) point is, it can work. We still have issues to work through that have stemmed from the transition from an online relationship to a real one but I don't regret anything and I would not take any of it back. In fact, the heartache we endured being long distance made us so much stronger and it makes me appreciate being here with him every day. :) |
