Spain Tour?? Has anyone ever taken a trip/tour to Spain ? If so , which company did you use? Did you like it? For my 40th..which is coming up in June...I wanted to do something I've always wanted to do ...go to Spain. I always like personal references...so I figured I'd start here. :D |
What part of Spain are you going? I lived in Madrid for three years and didn't want to come back to the states. I dearly love Spain. Have no suggestions about a company to arrange your trip for you, but there is a couple people on YT that live in Spain that may have more information for you. |
I love the canary islands, particularly Lanzarote, they are Spanish but actually closer to Africa. Can't help you with tour operators because obviously it is much easier for me to get there. Try not to go to the very top tourist resorts as you will find more drunken holiday makers than you do Spanish. Because we are so close in UK, most people holiday in Spain, Greece, Portugal or Turkey, so maybe some UK people can help you decide. |
Never been, but I wanted to say...what a wonderful Birthday present! Have a fabulous time:thumbup: |
I definitely want to hit Madrid, Barcelona and Seville...anything else will be topping on the cake !! Birthday cake!! LOL :D My husband wants to rent a car and just go. But I'm thinking we should do a tour..that way we can understand the culture and history of the country. Also, I heard the parking in the cities is crazy...so i'm wondering if the euro-train and taxi's are a better choice? I'm usually GREAT at planning trips!! My husband even tells his friends to ask me first before booking their own trips....but i dont know why this one has me stumped!! |
I can't recommend a tour from personal experience. I spent a week in Madrid for work - OMG - LOVE that city so much! It's very metro / urban, but then you have this incredible history all around you. The Plaza de Mayor blew my mind, I would just sit there forever. Also, go to Old Town. And the museums, the museums!!! The Prado museum is a must. I'm not a shopper, but the clothes shopping there is really fun if you like unique pieces that you don't find as much here...good prices too, but maybe not as good now w/ the currency exchange. I think you can tour some of the royal palaces there too. I found that not as many people as I thought spoke English. In other places I've traveled abroad, English was rampant - which made it easy. In Madrid, I ran into a lot people who didn't speak it - so a language booklet would be good. I've heard Seville is a must. Please keep me posted so I know when to buy my ticket :D. |
Do the train and the walking! Much personal experience:p easy on the English part... Not in Spain anyways;)... Or so I've been told! |
I went on a Spain trip many, many years ago. Loved it but cannot remember the name of the tour company. We also went to Madrid, Barcelona and Seville, among other places. I do remember on the tour that between the cities there were many, many olive and grape fields. I also found that many people only spoke Spanish, and my Spanish was pretty poor. I did try, though, and most people were kind about it. :) Smart advice to bring a translation book. Anyway, have a great birthday in Spain! |
:D Maybe a coach tour?!!? :) Spain, like Italy, is a COMPLETE NIGHTMARE to drive around, let alone park - okay in 'the bits inbetween' - but the Cities..... I'm sorry, but everyone's nuts....:D When you do go, PLEASE make sure it incorporates the islands...the clearest, bluest sea...tiny fish nibbling at your toes...diving off boats just to get to your picnic on what seems like desert islands....sooooo romantic! :D Enjoy every moment! :) Sally x |
Never been, but want to go too! Have fun! Take lots of pics! When I went to England years ago before most people had internet, I did really well with reading a Lonely Planet book. Lot's of inside tips, how to get to popular destinations, good places to eat, etc. Frommer's is really good too. Read all you can, there's so much info on the internet nowadays. :) |
