Frustrating I have to vent. A few months ago we got our whole roof done brand new and it was a pain because we had to close the daycare and stay in a hotel for a month with both dogs and Joel was a puppy so that was really hard being in a hotel, lol So this morning we hear drip drip drip coming from the foyer, and theres water dripping from the light:eek: My dad came over and went up in the crawl-space and said they did a horrible job and that it's really wet up there, my dad wanted to do it by himself in the first place but the people pretty much said theres asbestos so if he does he'll die(I think they were being a little extreme) My dad said he thinks the whole thing was a scam, but anyway it's so frustrating, now we have to go back to a hotel, my guinea pigs have to stay here and I'll just have to come back a whole bunch to check on them. So it's such a pain.:( At least Joel is potty trained and more behaved unlike the first hotel trip:) But the insurance should cover it since they did it, we have to wait until tomorrow to call. |
I'd be more than frustrated..I be PO'd. Sorry you all are going to be put out of home again. :( |
Oh, I feel your pain....I know the frustration of a leaky roof. The breezeway roof to the wee house I bought the other year has leaked since I bought it. I had it "fixed" right away by a well-know local roofer. Then I got to work inside the breezeway, ripping out the stinky wet carpet, cleaning the glue off the cement floor, and tiled & grouted the whole thing myself...only to discover the roof still leaked. I've had three different roofers out here...they all claimed they only way they could "guarantee" their work was to replace the entire breezeway roof, along with a quarter of the house & a quarter of the garage that funnels the water to the breezeway roof. I didn't want to do this, because they'd just match the existing roof shingles, and if I was ever going to re-roof the whole place, those aren't the shingles I'd choose to use. I happened to mention it to a neighbor & he said he had a buddy who used to do roof work, & he'd have him come take a look at it. That guy came, within 15 minutes, discovered the exactly where the water was coming in & how (3 local well-known roofing companies missed it!) and said he could do a repair & would guarantee his work. It worked! After almost two years of soaky floors, I have a competely dry breezeway! If I had gone with any of those other roofers I would have needlessly paid for a whole new roof I didn't yet need..what a scam. I hope you get your roof fixed properly & for good this time! |
Sorry but I actually had to laugh at the he would die part. We have laws here dealing with how asbestos is handled due to it does cause cancer if you breath in the dust. Roofing companies and contractors have to be certified here to handle asbestos. My husband is in the process of replacing one this week in fact. |
I would look up the company that claimed they fixed your roof and take them to court. They should not be in business. Or call the better business bureau and do something to stop this company from ruining other people's roofs. They have a license and are not working up to it. They will reap what they sow! |
Yikes I'm so sorry that sucks. We had to have new shingles put on our roof after a tree feel on our house but we didn't have to leave the house and stay at a hotel. |
My mom called the roofers that did it and they are saying it's because it got too cold without snowing and it's condensation and that it's happening all over town, blah blah blah. I don't believe anything they are saying. There shouldn't be water dripping through the cieling no matter what the weather is! They said everyone all over the city is calling with the same problem |
We called another place and they said the same thing, oh well, doesn't make sense to me,lol |
wow well ive never heard that either but if two places are saying the samething.... i hope you get the issue resolved as quickly as possible. |

That is horrible! I hope things work out okay for you =/ I would be very upset if I just had my roof done and the problem didn't go away. Despite the circumstances bringing you to the hotel, hopefully it will be like a temporary fun little adventure for Joel now that he is older & potty trained. I definitely agree with you. There shouldn't be water dripping through the ceiling no matter what degree it is >.< |
