Marmoleum...? Does anyone have Marmoleum in their home? How is it holding up? Do you steam clean it? We have to redo the bathrooms...again...anyways we found a local flooring place they are so detailed and personal, after telling them about my son's allergies they suggesred Marmoleum due to it being hypoallergebic abd totall safe and natural in every aspect, manufacturing its made from lin seed oil from flax seeds & rosins from pine trees, the adhesives are natural and safe and ut doesn't release any VOCs, in fact it is completely biodigradible. I'm sold! Troubled there's no bright white or high gloss but the color pallet is beautiful modern etc. Just a bit cringing on the price but we're doing such a small area its fine... the clean up ability and durability is my only concern. |

Morning! :D It's a shame you're over there, because I can only talk about over here!!! :D I had a word with Andy about all this (he works in flooring) and he said if you DO get marmoleum for your bathrooms, please make sure it's the 'bobbled', slightly rougher kind....otherwise it could be extremely dangerous and slippery when wet. He also asked me to ask you (:rolleyes:!!) can you get Amtico in America? I think that's his personal favourite for bathrooms....Sally x |
Vinyl Flooring Products - Amtico We were thinking tile but thethe cost is too muchcold or continuing laminant wood to bathrooms but the flooring guy advised against it. My friend did laninant wood into the bathroom, but then again she has carpeting in her master bath! |
I only want completely smooth flooring for ckeaning purposes, but we're getting new rugs, Costco has the tempur material rugs on sale With pergo in the bedrooms the kids have learned to walk carfully...it was all fun and games slidibg acriss it in their socks at first...until they ended flat in their backs. We got baby gel bottom socks and everyone else wears their slippers now as not to slip! Poor Princess she has no stopping ability whatsoever! |
Is this any different linoleum? I had linoleum in many houses and did prefer it over vinyl flooring, but it is hard to take care of, you have to wax it with a paste waste and buff it to a shine with an electric buffer. You have to strip it at least yearly with ammonia and start all over, or you get the dreaded waxy yellow buildup. They started selling mop and shine products for it, but they don't protect or give a deep glow, but just a temporary surface shine that you have to do at least weekly. I guess you’re too young to remember the Mary Hartman TV series by Norman Lear, but the show was right on the money when it talked about waxy yellow buildup, a real problem in most housewives lives. All I can say is than God for ceramic tile! The good news is you can pretty much restore it forever with a new coat of wax. |
Marmolium is similar in feel and appearance only it is thicker and softer...it's totallya matte in coloration. Not really shiny at all. The real diffetence is what it's made of. According to the flooring guy Marmolium was the original linolium since like the 40'sidea or something until they realized how to make it cheaper out of plastic and it vecame main stream linolium. |

Derik could do it, we both have experience in construction he started working with a general contracter at 16 I was child slave labored as were all my cousins in a family business like every summer lol. But..I'm so freaking picky, like with trim boards etc if their not a perfect 90 angle, set flush and levek I want it redone correctly...Derik is better with machinery...he's not finish detail oriented...I'd have to fire him. LoL |
