How to remove water stain I have a water mark from a glass that left a white ring on a bedroom night table from company on Thanksgiving. I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to remove it that will work. I haven't done anything with it yet. It is a pecan wood if that makes any difference. I am upset as it is a furniture handed down to me by family. |
Doily? lol. Don't mean to make light but I live with one I've tried everything recommended on from lemon oil rub to a special treatment I bought at an antique bazaar and nothing really removed it from sight. It's better with all the different things I tried - none of which I can recall since it's been so long. Finally, I had to actually get out one of Mother's old doilies from my Grandmother and put over it. I hope someone can help you. |
I really don't know much about wood, but the little antique dresser I just refinished had a couple on them and an iron burn. I think a water ring is actually damage to the wood and the only way to get it out is to sand it out depending on how deep into the wood it went. Let it dry real good to see if it will lighten and sometimes some wood oil will help for a while but eventually it may need refinished. I know how frustrating that is too, I have a little coffee table that needs to be refinished now because of them too. |
If the piece of furniture is antique and might have a shellac or varnish surface. If it is, hire a furniture-restoration specialist to do the job. And next time you have company I usually put coasters on the night stands or a take a little table cloth on it and put plastic under it. No one can see and nothing happens to the wood |
