I don't did once got super sick. Flu shots only cover 5% of the most common flu virus. We take golden seal, acv, grape seed extract in a vitamin c drink instead. I use antibacteria soap when handling raw foods or especiallya dirty things it's natural emu and goat soap a local farm produces- best stuff ever! I have no issue telling strangers to back off my kids. I'll be rude and ask if their mother ever yaught them how to look with eyes and not hands... There's no reason to go around touching other people's kids that is seriously rude to the parent and especially the child. |
I must get it where I work or I have to wear a mask the entire time at work. |
I had no idea that the flu doesn't cause the stomach and gastro issues. So, according to what I've read here and the chart on the system checker website...I have the flu...wonderful. |
Years ago, they talked about something called stomach flu, and I think most people think the flu and stomach flu are the same thing. The real name for the stomach flu is Viral gastroenteritis and symptoms are vomiting and diarrhea with muscle/joint pains and fever. There is no type of preventative vaccine for this, but there are medications that can help with the symptoms. |
I had a nurse that was involved in research years ago, and she told me she NEVER gets the flu shot......"they pump that stuff out every year...stop and think how long they normally test and re-test and tweek and re-test meds before they hit the market...for YEARS.......yet this flu vaccine, they pump it out by the gallons, new and different strains every year...so, no, I will never get it." So, I like that train of thought...makes sense to me....but, I did my OWN research and NO! NO FLU VACCINE for me! I take my 5000 IU D-3, twice a day during flu season, once a day the rest of the year, and I have not gotten sick with the flu for years. I do take the pneumonia vaccine, simply because it protects you from the kind of pneumonias you will get as a secondary infection "on the streets, in everyday life"...not those super bug pneumonias acquired in hospitals, but your everyday run of the mill pneumonias. I caution all my family members against taking the flu vaccine too. Of course, it solidified my argument when a long time family friend last year came down with Guillian-Barre Syndrome and died 2 weeks later....... |
I am the one of the few who get a flu shot, I have for the last five years with no prolbem (and staying pretty healthy). |

This is the same reasoning I flipped out iver the Health Department showing up at my children's school to give free nasal vacs for the new flu...saying it was totally safe-it had been "invented" the month before and later they admitted they were giving it free as a study. |

Parents got a handy health department notice about a NEEDED EMERGENCY vaccine to prevent an epidemic the DOH would be given free and the paper said...yes or no, my child is allergic to eggs! No No I just refuse...I think it was sneaky and misleading in a class action law suit kinda way ya know. I wrote on mine NO I REFUSE TO LET MY CHILDREN BE EXPERIMENTED ON. |
I never got the flu shot until I got the flu.:eek:OMG!!! I was soooo sick! I missed over a week of work, lost about 6 pounds;), and was hurting everywhere. That was four years ago, and now I get the shot every September.:) |
I have always gotten the flu shot up until last year. I know two people that have had health issues after receiving the shot so I decided to not get one any more. My 15 year old does not get it any more either. However, I do have a disabled child who my pediatrician insists on getting it so we do. With him, the benefit far outweighs any risk involved. |
Until I started getting flu shots a few years back I usually spent most of the winter catching every strain of flu out there. I have definitely had some reactions to the shot. I imagine that is because each year the content of the shot changes to accomodate the different strains of flu going around..I have had very sick to no reaction. This year I had, other than a sore arm, no reaction at all. Whatever my reaction it usually passed within 24 hours. If I do get the flu now it is short lasting and symptoms are not as bad without it. Keep in mind that the flu is NOT the same as a stomach virus. Last winter I had an awful stomach virus, 4 days in the bathroom and 5 days down...awful...other years the flu shot did NOT contain the correct antibodies and everyone got sick... All in all I still highly recommend the flu shot, it has definitely worked for me. |
Never have, never will....No one in my family does either.....I rely on my own immune system. I haven't had the flu in a couple decades but if I do contract the flu my body will produce natural antibodies against the strain and I gain natural immunity to it if I were to ever be exposed to it again. |
All I know is, before I started getting my annual flu shot, I got sick, developed bronchitis almost every time, and missed a lot of work. Since I started getting it , I RARELY even get a cold, unless my immune system is unduly stressed. Actually, my doctors require me to get it now, because of my mitral valve repair. I'm not overly fond of needles, but would rather get this one than several later. |
