If your considering a yellow can I suggest you look at a sample of B.M. Monroe Bisque. It's a soft muted yellow/ gold color. I used it in my kitchen and a windowless small bathroom and I love it!..... There's a sample of it on this blog, there's also a soft pink you may like and there's even a lovely green too! ;) Monroe Bisque | Restyling Home by Kelly - Part 2 |

OK folks I just got off the phone with my assistant from work he is giving me a lesson in how to post pics in the morning...I've tried and tried and I'm so frustrated. I wrote it all down the one and only time I did it and can't seem to follow the YT instructions or my own...wth??? He was on the phone with me and I told him go to YT and join so you can see what I am trying to do...he said "Lynzy your my boss at work not on Sunday and I'm telling you right now I am not joining no Yorkie website just to help you post pics, ain't happening" he then said he's tired of hearing b%^&$ about this so he will show me at work tomorrow, he then said "is blankblankblank still suspended?" I said hey how did you know that? He said I left the screen open at his desk the one day and he read the whole thread!!!! I was peeing my pants laughing! and embarassed! |
My husband and I remodeled a house recently and the hardest part was choosing colors! We ended up buying a ton of color samples because (like another poster already stated) paint looks sooooo different on the wall. It is worth the extra money to be able to see it on the wall before you fully commit. Your room colors sound nice and if you would like to keep the whole house cohesive, you may want to go with cool colors in the kitchen and livingroom (gray, light blue, etc.) It would also be a nice change from the warm tones in your last house. Congratulations! Your new house and life is going to be awesome! |
Lynzy congratulations!! Your new life is going to be awesome. Personally I like earth tones...my whole house is different shades of taupe..from light to true taupe, which looks almost a cafe au lait colour. Bathrooms are pale green in the main bathroom, lilac in the powder room and my en suite is a very pale yellow...I need something cheery at 3am! Base board trim is ivory as is my california blinds in the family room. All maple coloured hardwood flooring downstairs. The furniture is all large comfy big cushions! I like a 'homey' feel. That just me. Take your time and figure out what Lynzy likes, you'll have a ball re-decorating! I had a great time doing mine once ex moved out...kind of like a cleansing...He left...I bought him out and kept the house! I literally cleaned house! :D I felt so liberated once I started doing it..you will as well. Just remember to go slow, you have time. Again Congratulations my friend, you did good! A fresh new start for you. |
Color is the hardest. I won't tell you how many times I've painted a room right after it was painted :(. But imo colors I like but a neutral or soft earth tone color. You can splash colors with assecoriess and not be overwelmed with the wall color. The ceilings I paint 25% of the wall color. =25% color 75% white. I don't like white ceilings. It can be hard but its fun when it all comes together. Good luck and most important have fun :) |
Congratulations on your new home! I find moving & decorating a new place to be pretty exciting, which is kind of ironic because my family & friends tell me that each of my new homes look just like my last. I guess I like what I like & tend to stick to the same things. As a few other posters mentioned, I too love yellow walls and white trim, so I've had it in every house. I know that the shades are slightly different from house to house, but others don't seem to pick up on these nuances :D My kids tell me that I decorate my homes like Christmas trees....red, green & gold. I have loved the Old Country Roses china pattern by Royal Doulton since I was a child...and I still love it, so those are the colours I tend to go with in almost every room. Is there anything that you love every time you see it? Something you always find appealing? If so, I'd start with those colours. |
My best advice is ALWAYS buy a color sample and paint each lighting variation area od the wall or room before completely committing. Also primers tinted with the paint color is a must totally worth the extra work. I am not the girl to advise others on colora we have a black photo wall a red kitchen neon green milos room neon orange mareks room teal and pink maisy room a brown and pink master bath and rubber duck yellow kids bath...the rest is normal white...but the house outside is easter jade... |

Oh yeah for you.... decorating a new home or even just a small space is going to be so much fun ! I love to shop and decorate my home and every now and than find something to add to the mix. Its nice when you can afford to do it with a sense of style and still keep the budget in check. Thats the fun part, finding new things at a great price to mix in with the old things that you love and want to keep but making sure that they work together. I feel the key to an amazing space is the window treatments and the wall color. Myself I love earth tones. (greens, mauves, golds, tans and oranges) I love the feel of a warm and cozy home by adding window treatments that keep out the sun and make the room look and feel more inviting. It just takes a great color on the walls and a great window treatment. Making sure that both will match your existing material on your sofa and chair. Than just add you accessories to tie it all together. Rid what doesn't work and add new things that do. We went with a Tuscan theme and I love it. It is definitely a big change from what was there org. . It had been 12 yrs since we did anything to it. Just waiting for the cash to replace the tables so something with more of a Tuscan feel and it will be perfect. I was able to add accessories when I re did the living room for under $150. I didn't purchase one thing at cost, I shopped sale items, clearance and garage sales. I found my window treatment on clearance for $4 a panel for the drapes and only paid $8 for the sheer panels. I got throw pillows on sale and nick knacks and wall hanging on clearance hear and there until I had enough to do my entire room. I also found some really great pieces at garage sales that I reproposed and found anew use for them. Are you doing the entire home or just a few rooms? |
I keep getting a message that says my pics exceed a size...how do I change the size? |
