Couple drowns attempting to save their dog... a sad but very heartbreaking story. This shows how much this "mom and dad" loved their baby. I am praying there are close relatives who can now adopt and give this furbaby a home filled with love. Massachusetts couple drowns trying to rescue dog from lake - U.S. News |
wow that is really super sad and the state in which i was born! hope the same. |
How very sad. I'd hope people might learn from this and use life jackets more, even on their dogs. |
Very sad story. I agree with using life jackets. |
sorry not born but lived my whole life....and yes agree with life jackets too! |
:( Beyond heartbreaking. This makes my breath catch in my throat :(. I wish they'd all made it. |
Very sad. I can picture this happening...who wouldn't jump in after their furbaby & try to save him/her. I'd be over the edge of that boat in heartbeat to save ZoE. Obviously this pup meant the world to this couple. I hope a family member gets this baby out of the municipal shelter it was taken to. |
How very sad...I hope the same as what others have said. I cant swim, but i would have done the same thing... |
I heard about this. So sad. I pray a family member gets this puppy. |
That's so heartbreaking :(. |
This was all over the news last night. How tragic and sad! The pup is sooo cute. I really hope the family does not blame the pup and put him in a shelter. |
so sad and I can relate since we live on a lake and Lola loves the boat and water, but it scares me that she will jump in, so she has a life vest on at all times and a long tether. I am sort of surprised they drowned though, they said it was a pond, they must not have been great swimmers. to bad they did not think to bring in the float cushion you are supposed to have with you at all times when boating |

I think they husband most likely just dove in out of reaction to save their dog and once he was in distress his wife dove in to save him. Its just so sad. This to me is why I annoy my kids with emergency practice exercises. Reacting is natural responding safely for everyone takes training. |

A life jacket could have prevented this tragic event. All of my dogs can swim- They may not be happy about it but they can swim. If I took them regularly boating or in open water they would wear life jackets. |
Wow, this really confirms the importance of life jackets for me... If they had been wearing theirs, they would still be alive :( |
oh wow... I am so sad. Such a heartbreaking story |
This is so sad :( and some of the comments on the article are so upsetting and make me just plain mad at how harsh/cruel some people are. |

People are cruel. Its one thing to suggest learning from a tragity its entirely another to be blaming & just plain mean. |

I didnt think you were a mind reader...anyways. They may have had life jackets, thats why its important to practice for emergencies, so people remember to react by putting on a life jacket instead of reacting instinctively and jumping in to save soneone in the water. Its not always instant to pause and put on a life jacket, then jump in. As I said that's why I annoy my kids with practice drills. I actually was thinking while reading this about a local incident, where a family was fishing at the river. The boat flipped over all 2 of the 3 kids had on life jackets. Their dad told them to swim to shore all three boys made it, despite Keith being a strong swimmer all his life and having had a life jacket, he was using it as a seat cushion in the metal boat, only a few yards from shore in a 12 foot lagoon he drowned Its so important to not only have life jackets present but to be wearing them when entering the water. Keith Murphy was a great boss and personal long time family friend he was a very present if mind person who had spent his entire life on the water, fishing in the lagoons, skiing in the lakes, surfing in the ocean...I know it sounds vain in a way, but he was one of the last people you'd expect to hear of drowning especially in the calm shallow lagoon. His sons thought he was faking a cramp and going under as he was quite the prankster in his day. If he'd have put his life jacket on even in water before trying to save the fishing poles from floating awayor he'd have made it. Anyways I just hope people remember how import it is to wear their life jacket, just having it for compliance or good measure isn't enough no matter your swimming ability. |
