browsers We have always used explorer. I had put chrome on but never really used it. I tried it out some last night and was not impressed as facebook kept crashing. I deleted it and am trying Foxfire. I researched and they say these are better than explorer, with chrome being best. What do you use? Pros and cons please. Having to drag hubby to anything new, so it is an uphill battle when i want to change anything. Thanks |
I've been using Firefox for years now and much prefer it to Explorer. My son downloaded Chrome on the desktop but Firefox works so well, I never even tried Chrome. I finally removed it, after the son moved out. My computer doesn't crash using Firefox like it did with Explorer. |
ty it takes me awhile to learn things. and as i said i have to drag dh into anything new. |
i love chrome havent really tried firefox. explorer runs like crap! but it is what i have to use at work. |
I use Firefox the most on PC, and Safari on Mac. Chrome has some perks and some downsides. Internet Explorer is often called Internet Exploder. :D Many web designers would love to see it go away because it behaves so differently than other browsers. Opera is okay, but I don't know enough about it to understand any attraction to it. |
I love chrome and have never had any problems with it. I love how it puts a red line under anything I misspell and then if you right click it gives you options of how to spell it but I am a terrible speller. I also use google a lot and instead of going to google.com you can just enter the words you want to search where you would put a web address and it searches it on google and gives you the results. I also like how you can set the zoom you want the pages at and it will stay that way even if you shut down your computer and you don't have to reset the darn thing every time you use chrome. |
I didn't know you could use anything other than explorer on a PC  I'm guessing you would have to deleat explorer and download Firefox?? Sorry im computor illiterate!! I barely know how to turn the dang thing on! |

I was a huge Firefox fan. Until they updated and I had nothing but problems. I have used Chrome every since then and I don't have issues at all. |
I've used firefox for years and LOVETH it. |
Used Chrome last year but had so much trouble saving some images, crashing movie sites and then couldn't copy and paste and save parts of webpages easily so gave up and uninstalled it. Plus I missed many of the old IE features I'd grown accostomed to. Haven't had the guts to try the new improved version. I'm thinking of Firefox but IE9 is not so bad. What troubles are you having with it? |
I have used IE, FF, GC, and Safari. Favorite is ff. Have to uninstall and reinstall though. Something is up with it on my MacBook. I like GC, but it seems sluggish or something, esp. when preprogrammed to open multiple tabs. Safari is ok but I don't like it nearly as much as ff. I only use IE if a site on a PC won't work on another browser. besides the fact that I think it is totally crummy, slow, and inadequate, at ne point it was the source for most viruses. And no way would I want to stick my bank account info anywhere when using it. |
Thanks for the opinions. I tried firefox for a few days but it kept crashing. From thier forums, seems many people are having this trouble since they upgraded it, esp with flash. So I deleted it and decided to try chrome again. Glad i did. Found some apps i really like for it. The ability to change the language used by some people is good. I hate when another language is used and the pic looks interesting. For me, I just get bored with the same thing all the time. Kept hearing good things about ff and chrome, decided to ck them out. thanks again |
Thanks all for enlightening this computer dummy! I tried Firefox, and have had no issues with it..I love it! Much faster than IE, and it didn't stop working like IE likes to do. Thanks again. |
At this day and age nobody should be using Internet Explorer when there's great options out there. Firefox and Chrome being the top browsers, personally I prefer Chrome. It's fast and has many great add-ons. |
Lol. may have my dh on the road to switching to chrome. Looked at all the apps and found 2 bomberman games. His absolute favorite video games. |
Firefox + Adblock Plus will get rid of most ads, including those awful ones they make you watch before you can watch a youtube video. It's great! :) |
I love Firefox! I use it on all my PC's, including the computers in my classroom. I have ad-block installed, which makes it all the more awesome. I also use it on my husband's MAC without any issues. I didn't delete IE, but I just don't use it. |
I use Safari on my Mac and love it. Whenever I use a PC, I use Firefox. |
Firefox is my FAVORITE by far. Never ever liked IE. When I still had a PC, I immediately got Firefox to replace IE. I have a Macbook now and am just not as big on Safari or Chrome for some reason. I do have both. But always wind up using Firefox. |
