Mini Tornado 3 miles from my house
 
We had a storm roll through late this afternoon and we lost power for the last 2 hours. Our local news center is reporting a small tornado touched down 3 miles from our house and collapsed 2 buildings, injuring 3 people. :eek:

I think I'm going to need a Thundershirt like Teddy.

I know the feeling. Once came right over my house or awfully near last spring but didn't touch down as it passed! I was a wreck for a couple of days after. Have some wine or a 1/2 a Valium and try to kick back. Thank goodness it didn't get your home!

:eek::eek: YIKES:eek::eek:....didn't even hear about these, glad you are ok. You could be like another member here(not mentioning names) and hide in the closet with a bottle of wine.

I hate these horrible storms. So many are still without power from the bad one last week. We had one tear through here on Thursday..it scared me to death. The winds were over 60mph and it tore shingles off our house.
I am so glad you and the guys are ok.

Hahaha! Perfect solution!

I took the boys to our office park to walk and half the town is still without power. It was definitely a twister. Trees were snapped in two, shopping carts were thrown around, things ripped up and blown everywhere.

Oh no! I'm glad you are okay too. My heart goes out to everyone who is without power in this heat.

We do not have a basement :(, and there was no warning. It wasn't that bad at our house, thankfully. Hopefully the storm systems headed our way tonight won't be as bad.

We went to see the damage last night -- the young cheerleaders and their coaches and parents who were in the building that was smashed are very lucky to be alive. Seven people were injured. Officials are not sure if it was a tornado or microburst. Either way, very scary.

There's been crazy weather everywhere recently! Even over here. Well not in CA but last week I was in LV and there was a thunderstorm that came through and I seen several little dust tornadoes, or whatever they're called. The wind was crazy strong, but at least there was wind otherwise the heat would have been unbearable.

In AZ, we called them Dust Devils. A little one knocked me off of my bike the first time I rode without training wheels. :p

The extreme heat is not only unbearable, but it does make things more volatile when the cooler storm fronts move in.

OMG really? Were you a giant child as well? heh heh. Yea dust devils I forgot the name, like the vacuum.

Actually it was really humid in LV for the day before the thunderstorm came in. It was really weird. Like tropical humid almost.

I thought LV had nothing but dry heat. I would never survive, dry or humid. In my old age, I love my a/c, shade, and pasty skin. :D

Yeah, usually LV is dry as heck! It was really strange. It was a last minute decision to go there for the 4th. Once we got out of the car in the parking structure I said, What have we gotten ourselves into? I can't stand the heat or the sun! And I've got pale pasty white skin as well!
