Does anyone cross stitch? I used to cross stitch pretty heavy when my husband worked but I haven't for a few years now. I have a ton of books, thread (possibly hundreds of boxes of new thread) and supplies and thought about putting them on Craig's List. What do you think...would it be worth my time to dig it out and place the ad? |
I used to cross stitch too, before my old eyes couldn't see well enough. I would pull it out..I am sure there is someone out there who would love to have your supplies. Cross Stitch is such a beautiful hobby to have. My Aunt made all of her nieces and nephews a cross stitch ornament for Christmas each year, before she passed away 10 years ago. I still have all of my youngest sons...my oldest took his when he married. It is something we all cherish. |
I LOVE to cross stitch. Relaxes me. I've sold several of my excess supplies, patterns, fabrics on etsy and had decent luck. I have more patterns, fabric than I will ever get to use. Never thought about looking for supplies on craigslist. Going to check it out now! |
I LOVE counted cross stitch..,.matter of fact working on a piece right now! We are camping and I can't just site and do nothing,,..I also have a quilt that I am working on,..,.a little hot to be having a quilt on your lap at this time of the year. I'm sure you won't have a problem selling your supplies craigs list. |
Yep I did it for the longest time before I got in a car accident and injured my neck. Can't spend the long hours doing it anymore. I LOVED doing counted cross - the harder the better! |
I also used to cross-stitch! Especially at work after eating, for the rest of my lunch hour I cross-stitched with some of the other ladies & I made a lot of different things & made many gifts & things I wanted for hanging around the house. Fun hobby but I no longer do it either. |
I guess I'll go through 'that' closet and get everything out. It's all counted cross stitch supplies...tons of it! I made everyone in my family a Welcome picture a few years ago and I was going to make everyone a personalized stocking but the family grew way too fast! I have 6 sisters and 1 brother and they all have pretty big families...I gave up! |
I sure loved it when I did it. There was something so satisfying about just sitting with the other ladies sewing & chatting & watching a pattern taking place. I did one Calendar Bears piece that had a teddy bear dressed for each month of the year in appropriate monthly costumes such as a black top hat with champagne for January, a Cupid Bear for Feb.,... Yankee Doodle Dandy type for July &.... dressed in turkey costume for Nov., SantaBear for December, that type of thing. There were a zillion thread changes!!!! But it was a big piece - I think 24 x 18 or something and when all 12 Calendar Bears were done, I was soooo proud. Then I did a zillion samplers and Bible verse pieces & lots with flowers & pretty sayings for gifts for women. Such a wonderful way to pass time & zone out & create in the process! Eventually though I started a walking program and after lunch I would walk rather than sew so I finally gave it up. |
I too love to cross stitch but have not done it quite sometime. I have a couple of projects that I need to finish though. Have you tried looking on Ebay? I think you might do better on their than on craigslist. I would take a look on Ebay and maybe follow some things for a while and see how they sell. (??) Good luck, I should probably thin out some of my kits and supplies too. |
It is a great stress reliever. |

I thought I'd use my supplies after my husband retired but we're too busy for me to get into a new project! I still have to go through that closet...can you tell I'm avoiding that part?? |
I still Xstitch almost every day, never for more than 30min or so. I have purchased some kits on Ebay but havent thought to look on CL. I have so much that I am committed to finishing the kits and other projects that I want to do before I purchase anymore. |
