Laudry advice? So much dog hair! Is there any good, reliable way to remove some of the dog hair in the laundry? I currently use detergent in the washer and Bounce dryer sheets. Is there something else I could be using or doing differently that would help cut the amount of hair on my clothes when they come out of the dryer? I've invested a fortune in lint rollers - which do work, but I'm so sick of depending on them I could almost scream. Any ideas, please? |
Hmm....not sure if it will help, as you may already be doing what I suggest. I separately wash the clothing from any other laundry. Wash small loads on the highest water setting. The more room the clothes have to move around in the washer, the less likely hair will cling. One last idea, go outside and shake your laundry before washing. In the future buy only light colored clothing....the hair is still there, just not as noticeable as on dark clothing:D |
I'd like to know too. I don't have as much a problem with my dog's hair as I do my human daughters! They leave hair everywhere! |

You hit on the two reasons why I think I'm suddenly so bothered by this - I recently bought some new (dark colored) clothes that show EVERYTHING. And I had to buy a new washer last year....it's the kind that auto adjusts water level and everything else depending on the size of the load. :( I don't know how to manually set the water level, but I'll pull the manual out and see it it'll tell me. I always left my old washer on the largest load size no matter what I put in.....now I know why! :p |
dryer sheets have helped but i still get some, wish someone had a solution for this :) i wipe out my washer sometimes if i remember this helps a little |
I didn't have a problem till I bought a new front load HE washer & dryer. I get little balls of wound up hair stuck on everything. I know what you mean about lint brushes. It's insane to have to go over every piece of clothing with a lint brush/tape. I don't use softener in the wash bc it messes up the washer but I may have to try that again. I'm just really disappointed with supposedly 'new' technology. As soon as I can afford it, I'll be getting a new topload washer. |

I read through the manual on the new washer and it didn't show where the water levels were adjustable but I did see where I could add an extra rinse cycle. Maybe that will help? I'll try it on the next load I wash this weekend and see what happens. I've never used a liquid softener. Does it work better than dryer sheets on pet hair? |
I love the liquid Downey it makes you clothes smell so good, and your sheets smell so fresh |

BonBon... does your new machine have the center agitator like the old machines did? The problem with liquid softener is it splashes to parts of the machine where water won't rinse it off, and then it creates a mold problem. (at least that's what happened to my old machine) PS: How's that little pumpkin butt (in your avatar) doing? She's sooooo cute! |
Tennis balls. Yep! You heard me right. Throw a couple of tennis balls in the dryer with your clothes. The balls help knock off the hair and your lint trap sucks it up. |
