Laid Off So the company I work for shut down the whole dept and laid everyone off without notice. Supervisors and all. Just went to work one day and were told to go to a meeting and were told there. We didn't even go back to work that day. Talk about stress.. I know I'll pick up, dust off and move on but it's not fun. Oh here's the really screwed up thing about it. They gave our jobs to ppl in India. :( |
i am so sorry to hear this...eveything happens for a reason but when you need your job that doesnt cut it. i wish you luck in your search. |
I am so sorry :(! That's just terrible. It has to be such a shock. I hope you are able to find a job you love soon...a really awesome job! You'll be in my thoughts. |
Thanks. I will be ok. :) I'm getting unemployment and I know everything happens for a reason and it always works out, but yeah, it was a shocker. lol No one seen it coming. |
Oh my....What a shock...You have a great attitude though!! My DH lost his job after 24 years on the job, they filed bankruptsy and get this...The company that bought them and closed them offered my DH a year later at a much reduced salary...I am happy that he has a job even so, that was so wrong of them. A blessing for DH, he gets to work from home so he is with our 3 yorkies all day!! :p Good luck on the job hunt. I might suggest that you not take a month off before looking for a job, that is what DH did. With all the people looking for jobs he regrets that part.... |
This job market sucks. Hopefully, you will find a new job quickly. My dad is working in Nashville, TN and the rest of his family is in NJ. He has been down there for almost 1 1/2 years and was out of work for that long before he found this job. He is an insurance claim/environmental attorney. My brother is an accountant and can't find a steady job he even got his masters degree and is trying to get his CPA to be more competitive. |
I am so sorry to hear this but you have the right attitude...everything happens for a reason. The majority of jobs outsourced/offshore are slowly coming back to the US because over time the local governments are imposing financial demands on the US companies which eventually makes it more costly to do the job there (than in the US). Take this opportunity to probably pursue a job in another area, thus building skills and making yourself even more competitive. |
Wow, how horrible :( I hope you are able to find another job soon! |
I'm in sales. It's worked out good for me so far. I was in the computer tech industry with this last job. I should have known that would happen. Call Dell or Microsoft and see who picks up the other end. LOL. It will work out. I refuse to let myself fall. :) |

That was extremely crappy of them. I'm sorry:( Sounds like you'll be just fine, though! Outsourcing jobs to other countries is why the economy is failing. It will backfire on them when their English-speaking American customers can't understand a word:laugh: |
That s*cks. My company did that five years ago. I wasn't hit, but people I managed were, and I didn't find out about it until "the big meeting" when it happened. Did they give you severance at least? |
This seems to be happening all over the place. What is happening? I hope & pray that you will find another good job soon & maybe in the meantime, you can get some rest between job hunting episodes. |

Yes it is exactly why. I hope it does backfire. I remember so many times people commenting on how glad they were that all of us were in America. They wont be getting that anymore when they call. |
