They called themselves a "no kill" shelter ... What a disheartening and sad story. They were only in it for $. May all those poor babies, who were put to sleep instead of in forever homes, rest in peace. By the way, Harrison is a wealthy town within Westchester County, New York. http://www.lohud.com/article/2012050...|img|Frontpage |
how sad..... |
I was reading an article the other day about "no kill" shelters. The article referred to one shelter that brought 72 cats to the vet to be euthanized at one time! |
We recently had a situation where a number of dead pets were dumped, in trash bags, at the side of a highway. Have not heard more on the story but the media posted pictures of the animals and as gory as they were at least the owners came forward. Apparently the pets were euthanized and they were able to pinpoint it back to the facility. |
I don't know how a shelter can call theirselves No Kill in the 1st place as most shelters take in more animals then are adopted out so where are they putting all of these animals ? Our shelter calls theirself No Kill & I have never seen more then 10 dogs in there at once & they could easily hold 100 dogs. They will not take in any animal without 1st calling the city & asking permission:confused: to take in any animal a person tries to drop off wether it's a stray or an owner turn in & I have seen them tell people who try to bring strays, to take them back where they found them or take them to Helping Hands Rescue. The couple who run Helping Hands are very good friends of mine who almost never sleep as they travel for miles rescuing dogs & cats so It infuriates me when I hear shelter staff say we can't take that dog we are full, BS is what I can say about them & their full shelter. & I have yet to figure out what our AC officer does because He has said the same to me when I have caught a dog running down my street & put it in my backyard & called for puck up. When he gets to my house he tells me to just let them go & they will go back home, how's that for animal control for ya ? & MY taxes pay this IDIOT to do his job, what a JOKE. |
Any no kill shelter will become kill when there are budget cuts. That happened to our humaine society |
How sad :( Our "no kill" shelter takes the animals that are not adoptable or undesirable to the kill shelter in our area and lets them do it. True no kill shelters are rare... |
