How to drive MeganS crazy SimonandHallie's Kimberly is stuck on 2,999 posts, and Megan has been poised like a rattler all day to congratulate her. lol. I hope she posts after your bedtime, Megan! P.S. everyone: Megan's play -- Guys and Dolls -- is tomorrow. Wish her luck! |
LMAO!!! PERFECT Description LOL !!!! I KNOW how that little snake can be - Kimberly's pm box is probably full of "Hurry ups" and that's sooooo sweet and funny of Megan - GOOD LUCK with the play girl - I don't want to say 'BREAK A LEG' but that are the right words aren't they ? and can someone tell me WHY people say that to people going on Stage ? |
This is hilarious! Megan stays up pretty late though, so she will be ready to post her congrats to Kimberly I am sure. :p Megan, have a great time in your play. Wish we could all be there to see it. :aimeeyork And I have no idea what "break a leg means" either, LOL. |
I know she's just doing it to bug me. She said she's going to wait until next year. I didn't PM her yet, Hallie spilled wine on her carpet, but I'll do it when she comes back. :D And I have no idea why they say break a leg...lol. Mike sent me a PM and he was like "Break a leg tomorrow. Thats just a theatre term, I don't really want you to break your leg. But it would be pretty funny if you stubbed your toe, though." |
hee hee! |
Megan, I'll just say, Good Luck and have fun. I'm sure you will do great. |

Good luck Megan!! :) In earlier times, actors wished one another “may you break your leg”, in the hope that the performance would be so successful that the performer would be called forth to take a bow — to bend his knee. :) The curtains on either side of a stage were called the legs, so that to pass through the legs was to make it out on to the stage ready to give a good performance, or perhaps expressing the hope that you will need to pass through them at the end of the show to take a curtain call, implying your performance had been good. :) The saying really refers to getting one’s big break, that the performance will be good enough to ensure success in one’s career. |
I say, go break all the audience member's hands (cuz they have to clap so much for you!) :) Here's a definition of: break a leg (brayk uh leg) - expression, vernacular. Used by performers to wish each other good luck. Though its origin is not exactly clear, one possible explanation dates from the period of the Restoration, circa 1680, in England. It became the custom for performers to curtsy at the end of the performance by placing one foot crossed behind the other and bending the knee of the supporting leg. The greater the applause, the lower the curtsy. The hope was that the applause would be so great that the performer would "break a leg" from having to curtsy so deeply. http://www.dcd.ca/catalogue/macdictionary.html |
